Club Pages

I had Connie pick up my pages from club since I couldn't attend.
The pages are really cute. I have been working on them today and they are time consuming.

During some discussion I have been made aware that we need to address a few items that we frequently use.

Chalks and Chalk Inks. These are not the same items. Chalks usually come in a palette with numerous colors. They are dry. You most usually use a cotton swab or a cotton ball to apply.

Chalk Inks are an ink pad with a special type of ink that drys to a chalky finish. The one we most often use is the Cats Eye Fluid Chalk Ink Pads.

Please specify which one you are referring to when designing for your club pages.

Next month at either club or class we will be using the ink pads to distress our pages.
I would prefer each of you have the Cats Eye Fluid Chalk Ink Pads. We will be using Roan Chestnut and Creamy Brown. I am sure Scrapbooks! has them if not the store in Findlay did have them. You could also order them on line. The Whole Kit and Kaboodle is advertising that they carry them. They should run you 1.99 each. (anymore you are getting ripped off)

You can substitute if there is an inkpad you prefer for distressing instead of the fluid chalks.
The creamy brown is a tan or light brown and the chestnut roan a dark brown.

Green?

Are you doing anything green. I started with my water bottle last summer and have done nothing since. I am interested more in my health and the health of my family. If it helps the earth great also.

So I am going to incorporate more green into my life.

Suggestions? What part do you take to keep things green?

Lyrics from a song by Hilary Weeks

If I Only Had Today"

It seems like I've watched a million sunsets
And stared at a thousand full moons.
Sometimes it feels like I've been here forever
And sometimes it all feels brand new.
I could never count the heartbeats
From the day I was born until now.
But not a single one goes unnoticed
By Him who breathes life in me somehow.
But if there were no more tomorrows
If I knew that I could not stay.
I know how I'd spend every moment
If only I had today.
I'd hold you and listen
And I'd let the dishes sit in the sink.
I'd tell you I loved you over and over
And for once I'd just let the phone ring.
The I'd remind you of forever
And how our love would never change.
If I only had today.
I'd wake up before the sun did
And I'd watch as you quietly sleep.
I'd pray for time to move slowly
Knowing the moment won't keep.
All the gifts that Heaven has given
Every blessing that's come my way.
Wouldn't mean anything without you
So if I only had today.
I'd hold you and listen
I'd memorize every detail of you face.
I'd tell you I loved you over and over
I wouldn't let excuses get in the way.
Then I'd remind you of forever
And how our love would never change.
If I only had today.
There's no time like the present.
Life doesn't come with any guarantees.
The sun will set and time won't wait
So while I have today:
I'll hold you and listen
And I'd let the dishes sit in the sink.
I'll tell you I loved you over and over
And for once I'll just let the phone ring.
The I'll remind you of forever
And how our love would never change.
If I only had today.

Friends

Looking for some quotes to use on our Child's Play pages,
didn't find any to use for the kids, but like these to explore the meanings of. Do you have any friends quotes that you like or love? One of my favorites is Toy Storys "You've got a friend in me", But I have used it many times.
"One loyal friend is worth ten thousand relatives." -- Euripides (408 B.C.)

"You can make more friends in two months by becoming really interested in other people, than you can in two years by trying to get other people interested in you." -- Bernard Meltzer

An honest answer is the sign of true friendship.-- Proverbs 24:26

"A true friend is someone who is there for you when he'd rather be anywhere else." -- Len Wein

"Life is partly what we make it, and partly what it is made by the friends whom we choose." -- Tehyi Hsieh

"Grief can take care of itself, but to get the full value of a joy you must have somebody to divide it with." -- Mark Twain

Yipee! Bill may be coming home, uhoh that means no club for me tonight.

Improvements

I haven't been involved with the medical field for a few years. I actually retired form EMS when Ky was born so almost 11 years since I have paid much attention. We are relatively healthy and have not had much health related issues except for allergies and colds and such.
Nothing that requires hospitaltion.
Things have changed. Technology has improved. The health care at OIO is outstanding. I felt good enough about their care to leave him last night and I actually slept 9 hours. I know that should be normal, but ask around, if I get 6 hours sleep I feel blessed.

Bill is being well taken care of, and will be coming home by Thursday. We will be homebound for about 2 weeks with home health care coming in for that time period for physical therepay.

Hopefull I will find time to get the sketches figured out and some pages done during that time period.

God is good, he saw us through this operation and blessed us with the ease of it.

Roadblocks

What are your ROADBLOCKS? Do you let the roadblocks stop you, define you, keep you from acheiving?

Remember the Little Engine that thought he could succeed. I think I can, I think I can.

Well if you decide that you can't get around the Roadblock before you even begin, you won't succeed.

You must think you can. Words are powerful, convince yourself you can, all you have to do is use your powerful words.

I can......, I will........, I must......., I am......! Never I can't, always try, if you don't try you can't succeed.

Everyone has inside of him /her a piece of good news . The good news is that you dont't know how great you can be!!! How much you can Love!! What can you accomplish!!! and what your potential is!!!! Hold your head up high regardless of situations present or past and remember today is a new day!!!

a sense of humor can help you tolerate the unpleasant, cope with the unexpected and smile through the day" starting fresh and new my **FAMILY**

Both of these came off of my relatives facebooks this week. I really like them, Kind of scary, but I think I need whatever or whereever they are getting them.

Pray for Bill to have peace with the surgery, he is getting really nervous. He has only been in the hospital one time since I have known him. I think his last surgery was when he was 17.

We are so blessed to be so healthy. So fortunate for this to be the unknown.
“If you ask what is the single most important key to longevity, I would have to say it is avoiding worry, stress and tension. And if you didn’t ask me, I’d still have to say it.” George F. Burns

Habits!

How do you break bad habits and start new good habits?

What are the habits you need to get rid of, what are some of your good habits?

List your habits and decide if you should keep them or rid them from you life.

Monday, February 15, 2010

Who are you?

Do you know you, your weaknesses? your strengths?

Are you finding time for yourself?

Is it in front of the tv or the computer? Sitting in a chair?

Okay it is time for a huge wake up call, we can't do for others until we take care of our selves.

I know we are already overwelmed, sometimes things have to be sacrificed so we can do what truely needs done.

It seems as if so many of us are paying for others poor choices, in the meantime our health and wellbeing is being challenged.

The further we fall into this hole, the harder it is too climb out.

Sit down and write your weakness and strengths, what habits you need to break, what habits you need to work on and keep.

Next journal what expectations you are willing to give to others. We are allowed to say NO that won't work for me. This is what I am able to give you. Sometimes NO is the best gift we can give to others. Stop letting guilt rule your world.

Now tomorrow is Fat Tuesday, and then Ash Wednesday (repent), then Lent. Which should be used to fast and pray.

It is the perfect opportunity to use Gods word to accomplish our goals.

Take Tuesday to waller in your negatives. And then on Wednesday vow to take a step to improve you!
Giving up sugar is not fasting, It does nothing for you anyway. It is an addiction, giving it up is not a sacrifice. You need to remove something you need, not something you want.

Vow to do something to improve you, that way you can accomplish a goal that God speaks to you about.
Maybe it will be learning something you never knew you needed to learn, reading and applying scripture to everyday life everyday, volunteering at the soup kitchen every week, visiting a shut inn, improving your stamina by exercising, saying no every single time you are asked. That is giving up your time,

Make your self better! Make your community better! Make your world better!

Are you surviving?

How much are you carrying around with you? Are you angry, experiencing fear, having regrets?

Who or what is stealing your joy?

Get the fire into your belly, make a conscious decision to have JOY! everyday of your life.

Remember once you do, you have to fight everyday so the enemy doesn't steal your joy!

Unpack that bag of anger, get rid of it, find the joy. Ask God to help you combat those things that are holding you back.

Adhesives!

Snowed in (look for an update later today, about parking for tomorrow, waiting to get plowed out to let you know), so trying to figure out some pages and started thinking about all the adhesives we use.

I know we all love our ATG guns, but it is very permanant. I tend to rip my paper and destroy things if I try to reposition a part of my layout. I have and still maintain that when I can easily get distracted that the Hermie repositional is the way to go.(blue) It easily allows me to change any part. They use to say it became permanant in a couple weeks.(they have rescinded this) I have no problems with this if I place it in a page protector. If you use hobbylobby or joanns coupons it is very resonable to use.

I also like a small ballpoint type of glue pen for smaller items. If I have the above two products I can usually finish a layout.

If you do heavy items then you do also need add a heavier adhesive to your line up, I like glue dots, and also a white craft glue.

Remember if you are an acid free scrapper you also need to make sure your adhesive is save.

There are many other adhesives with pros and cons for all of them. So how about telling me what adhesive you use, why you choose those, and if there are any disadvantages to them.

Example.

Tabs. Good adhesive, slow to use (especially if other class mates are waiting on me.), messy cleaning up the tabs.

Hermie tabs. Adhesive changed when manufacture changed, not tabs to pick up.

Glue sticks, Messy, dries and looses adhesive ablity.

So help out your fellow scrappers and tell us what you use, what you'll never use again and WHY!

Oprah a real get real show today.

People do not change there lifes because of what they know, they change because of what they feel.

We are eating 40 lbs of sugar extra from when we were little, we are feeding out kids this.

Please if you get nothing else this year, if you learn nothing else. Convience has a cost, there is a difference between a snack and a treat.

We don't have to have a 20 course spread each time we have a get together.

Just for a wake up call, write down what you eat everyday for a week. Figure out the calories, fat, sugar, carbs, protein.

Please I don't want to lose anymore people for a totally preventable disease. Many things we can not control this one we can.

Only 10% are type 1, 90% are type 2 which is preventable.

Belly Fat.

Sedentary lifestyle

family History

smoking

Waist size is more than half of your height, at much increase risk. (even skinny people can have belly fat)

Please move at least 1 hour a day, stop listening to the food industry, their solutions are not benifiting you, they SELL you so they can make money, not so you can be healthy.

You can take small steps and change or you can go cold turkey, but change is needed by all of us.

Fat is not the enemy. Don't fall into low or no fat, THEY ADD SUGAR!

Yogurt shouldn't have 17 to 20 grams of sugar. Yogurt is healthy, yoplait is not. Look at the labels. I love yoplait also, but please take some yogurt and add some fruit, or if you must some koolaid and splenda.

Bagels for breakfast is not good, eat an egg. add some vegies and make it an omelet. Add one slice of whole grain bread. (Please read the labels again, inulin does nothing for your body for fiber, it is added to many breads and crackers. If your whole grain bread feels very light it is not whole grain that you want to eat. Whole grain is heavy.
Wait 4 hours eat a nutrious lunch.

I am sorry I am preaching but I have been fooling myself thinking that the stuff out there can help, or that i need it, I have eatin yoplait low fat yogurt everyday for 2 years for breakfast, love the lime, with berries, and flax, you would think it is healthy, nope, not at all. Way too much sugar. I am a sugar addict, I am sure you are too, white bread, sugar for your stomach.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE
DO SOMETHING FOR YOURSELF EAT HEALTHY (research it, don't take for granite that someone else has your best interest at heart) EXCERSICE.

Sure we eat too much, so please restrict your portions.
Ba zinga

Satisfaction

Are you ever content or always searching for more? Do you embrace what life has given you?

Do you realize how much we are blessed, how much we have? How much we could really give up and not miss or really even want or need.

How hard do you work, most of us have trouble just keeping up on mudane things, do we work in the fields for 12 hours a day like our ancestors, do we hand shovel the long drive way of the snow. Hand ring our wash and hang out on the lines. No most of us don't do any of these things, but we complain, we need more time. How did they get everything done.
I bet they turned off the tv, face book, video games or even the cell phone. Oh wait, they didn't have any of those things.

How has technology helped us, not at all for being in better condition. It should be making us more aware, aware of how fortunate we are.

Take the time today to count your blessings, find contentment in your life.

Yoga Again

So I am back tracking, there is no way I can rationalize starting yoga today when I would only be available to attend 2 times this month. How did my schedule become so challenging.
So for those of you who are interested meet me at 6:00 am. in my living room, or yours, starting tomorrow I will be joining either INHALE 6:00AM on the Oxygen network or Power Yoga, 6:00AM PBS. I am going to try for one of these in the morning and the other in the evening.
Both are very good yoga for conditioning. A little tough for beginners but remember that yoga is a non competitive sport, you only do a little to challenge yourself and then you try to improve each time.

Just a note also Jenni will be having brain surgery today to rid her of the Oscar droppings, please say a prayer for her, her doctors and her family. Thanks

Church Crops

The crop at the church is this weekend. Lori Burke would like to know if you are attending. They would really like to build up the people at the crops. The more people the more ideas to copy: )

Yoga

Well its been a couple months since I have visited Delphos for my stretching fix. As each week goes by I am finding myself weaker, sleeping less, having less energy, and joints hurting.

Bill and I talked yesterday and he wants to try Yoga after he has surgery, so I think I am going back this week. I know it will be especially hard starting again. I am going to have to have a pep talk to myself every day to keep going. I had promised myself I would keep up with it at home, but that hasn't happened.

So I need to get back on track, why do we give up something that helps us?
