Latest research shows virtually no difference in the weight loss or health of people on either diet.
The low carb did have a slight edge in lowering cholesteral in the long term, not short term. Neither did a whole lot on actual weight loss, I think it was like a 12lb loss in a years time.
Which is a pound a month, if that is all I was losing, I certainly couldn't remain on their eating plan.
Even in their studies they are still trying to make us remain fat.
So it is back to the drawing board, you need to figure what is best for you. What foods make you have cravings. What food can you consume and still keep your calorie counts under control.
I feel the best thing is when food stops being the end all. When you finally find something that gives you pleasure, sooths those concerns without having to put it into your mouth.
Now what ever that happens to be you need to find something that is not destructive. Shopping is not an option for replacing bad eating habits. Neither is drinking, smoking, or gambling.
See that is what it all comes down to. Some people call them addictions. I think they are much more habits and fear of what we will do when we no longer have those things to fall back on, to be our excuse.
