Pink Slime

Mickey D's is giving up the pink slime.

You know that stuff they had to your burgers to make it go further, to kill bacteria, to make more money.

Do you realize many other food manufactures add this to their ground meats.
So how much pink slime have you been eating.
(its not just ground beef, ground meat). Its not just prepared food at the fast food joints.
Do you realize many meats are really processed and glued back together with pink slime products? And I am not just talking lunch meats. Have your tried Aldi's individual fillets?
Don't mean to pick on them, I love Aldi's, but somethings just aren't right. Eventually our kids will be so used to it that is what they will expect. They are kind of there already, just because of the fast foods market.
Real foods, whole foods.

Movies

I have seen 4 movies since Christmas Day.
That is a record for me. The only time I consistently went to movies was when I was a teen. Told you I am having my second childhood.
So I have seen:
War Horse
We Bought A Zoo
Joyful Noise
Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close
I would recommend all of these. There is also something grand about seeing the movies on the large screen.
One of my favorite things for 2012, going to the movies with my favorite people.
Here is a movie you can enjoy on hula. Fat Sick and Nearly Dead.
It will open your eyes. There are many documentaries out there today on our food and health. Check out some others too.
Corn King
Food, Inc
Fast Food Nation
Start changing one thing in you diet or exercises and do these every week. You will be amazed at how quick you will feel better and how awful those foods you love taste now.

Fat

Have you ever wondered what makes fat. Well of course too much food. Not enough exercise. Consuming too much fat? Yeah right

Have you ever look at a cow and what a cow eats. Um they don't eat fat. they eat grass and corn. How about a pig, there again, no meat or fats are consumed. Domestic eat scraps, and corn. Wild eat roots and nuts.
What about bears. Um yes they will consume meats if necessary, but they prefer, berries and nuts, honey.
Horses eat grasses and they have a pretty hefty body, thin legs, not exactly fat, but big.
Elephants, hippos, umm grasses and grains. All these animals have some fat, walk or run alot in their natural habitates.
Okay know what about coyotes, wild dogs, the big cats, lean, energy, fast for short spurts. Yep they consume meat, along with some wild grasses.

Which do you want to be. Go ahead and tell me they also have different digestive systems, metabolise differently and you are right.

Again great apes, lots of veg and fruits, no or little meat, thinner limbs with large belly's for the most part. At least after they become adults. As younger apes, they are more active, but once activity wains they become heavy thru the middle.

So which do you want to be. Are you really listening to the SAD diet, it really is sad. What about the rest of the insane diets out there.

All you really need to do is keep track of what you are eating. Put it into perspective, watch portions but be honest with servings. Eat from all the food groups but forget the plate or pyramid they are giving you. Figure out the difference between full and satiety. Stop processed foods. You can eat from all the food groups, just make it fit you.

January

January is coming to an end and it has been an extremely challenging month.

Loosing a close friend, a mother in law and having a serious medical problem with one of my grandkids has been very stressful. (not counting the challenges some of them are giving us daily)

Now a dear friend is experiencing a loss of someone who is close to her, a sibling.

I know losing a grandparent, a parent, a child, a friend a sibling is so so hard, but my faith says they are experiencing a much better place, a joy we can not even imagine, and a peace we seek constantly. I find peace by celebrating their life. The joy they brought to my life.

Listening to Joyce has helped me tremendously this week, so if you are having trouble dealing with this month, find a broadcast of Joyce, or find her or WOF on line and maybe you will find a peace to deal with our loss. ( I do realize they are two different types of worship, but I relate to both).

10 Reasons to Give up Grains

Once again I can't get this to link, but copy and paste and you will see why I have given up wheat. Some of you complain constantly about your health but do nothing to improve it. Give it a try.

Always get a second opinion.

Many news reports on the health of Joe Paterna are being posted. He has taken a turn for the worst according to the news stations and also his family.

But there was also several reports last night on his death from news stations that we depend on. These reports were false, according to his family.

So sad that his life is ending in scandel after such a successful career.

Two things to be learned from this:

1 We all sin, even those who are held in high reguard. Those who try to live a life according to God's plan.

2. Don't trust the news media. Check it out for yourself. They don't always mean to lie, but they do, they get it wrond, sometimes on purpose, sometimes for ratings, sometimes just by ignorance.

Lent?

Heard many references recently to what people are giving up for lent.
I totally understand sacrificing for the good of others, sacrificing to show your faith, what I don't quite understand is giving up something that is bad for you and praising yourself for that commitiment, Turning around in 6 weeks and letting yourself get right back into the old ways of your past.

Explain it to me, please.

Already Behind

Well I am already behind on what my plans were, but I did find this article this morning and thought of all my family and friends who think they can't live without the processed junk. Hoping some of them at least take a look at what they are eating and try to change a little. Tired of loosing people to preventable diseases.

Update

Well I really have not kept up with this blog. Trying to figure out the direction it should go. Something I can get excited about.

Need to choose a word for this year to explore.
Need to finish many things I want to start.
Need to prepare for the future or maybe no future, because reality is we do not know how long we will be here on earth.

So stay tuned, there could be some changes, there may be something to like or dislike, would really like to have more imput, from my family and friends.

So think on it. Where are you going this year, how are you going to improve the lifes of those around you? When are you going to stop thinking of yourself?
