Power

How do you feel when you have the power?

The power for what?

The power to be, the power to achieve, the power to conquer, the power accomplish everything you are meant to.

You have this power. Use it!

Attitude

Back to: attitude makes a huge difference in results.

None of us are perfect, but we can strive to become better, do better, see positives and respond positivily to those around us. No reason to be a na sayer, you know one of those people who only has a nasty comment about anything.

It does not really matter what someone else does or doesn't do, if we stop making it about us, we can easily refuse to let someone else make us miserable or control our lives.

So now all we have to do is change our attitude, the way we respond.
Let God handle any and all incidents and enjoy the grace and mercy he extends to us.

Holidays

Hope your Christmas was joyous and you were able to celebrate in your favorite ways.

Thinking on the New Year is fast approaching and how we will plan our days in 2011.

As much as I am looking forward to not having classes to prep for, I am feeling that I need to organize some way for the scrapbookers to get together.

Everyone knows emergencies take precdence but planning classes and crops and having only one or two show up is annoying, but I hate not getting together sharing stories and also ideas and different techniques to try.

I seem to never get in the scrapbook room without a reason to boost me to create.

So thinking things over and trying to figure out which journey to depart on in 2011.

Hope your 2010 ends with many celebrations and that 2011 brings an abundance of happiness to you and yours.

Peace

Luke 2:8-14 "And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.
And lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.
And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.
For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord.
And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.
And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

Remebering when...

I remember when I use to decorate the house with lots of things for the holidays, use to love just the process of doing it, enjoyed the lights how much brighter the days were with the lights lit.

I am still trying to find the joy this holiday and just not seeing it, can't rationlize all the decorating, too much work to just take down, joints don't move in the directions needed to hang and arrange.
Can't enjoy the cookies and desserts, stomach pains aren't worth the sweet tastes. So not baking much either.

So hopefully a little tyke will show up to brighten the days, and we will see the sun shine sooner than later these cold winter nights.

Time

Our time is so short, it is a sin to waste it worrying about things we have no control over.

I am done worry, I will do what I need to do, but will stop worry over who else is doing what.

Now back to the eating issues,
Have you noticed that most allergies or or sensitivties, come from food items recently altered or added to the human food change? Most people are not allergic to fish, they are allergic to the iodine in the fish, something we added with our polution.
Grains were added recently in relative time to our food change before that we were hunters and gathers. Peanuts, soy, milk, most people were not allergic to this items until we started altering them. Goat milk, most people can consume it, why because it comes from the goat, not the milk plant.

Yep think on it. Why do you eat food products that have add nutrition to them, why not choose a food with natural nutrition?

Hear me whine!

I know there are always two sides to every story. I have always tried to look at how someone else might see a situation.

I am so upset, the dude that hit me on Sunday is saying that we were both backing up. Hello. I really think the damages will prove him wrong, and I am hoping the photos that Cindy took will also show how stupid that is.

I am in a driving lane, he is backing out of a parking space. How can this be my fault or both of our faults. I just get so tired with people trying to get away with things.

And why, do the police not come out and take statements at the time.

Please let justice reighn.

Looking for dieting advice again.

As much as I love reading and looking at any new nutritional information I can find. I also find that I am always more confused than informed after reading it.

The latest tells me to eat fish, not farm raised but wild caught fish only. Then in the recipes I see Tilapia , hello, where in the hell in America do you find wild caught tilapia, not going to, it is all farm raised.

Eat locally, eat seasonally, umm not much grown around Ohio in December and January.

Before we started transporting our food, and eradicating it so it would survive the trip, what did we eat.
Guess we canned the food ourselves.
Actually used the bones form meat to make soup, instead of grinding them up and feeding them back to their off-spring.

We should be the healthiest generation ever so what happened, where did we go wrong, how do we make it right.

How I despise the grey.

Trying my best to fight my way out of this dark globe eveloping me. It is extremely hard with events happening daily.

Friends ill
Car wrecked
Family idiots

Need to practice turning it all over to God, I know I don't really have control over any of this, might be my wilderness I am exploring. I still can't turn off my mind when the thoughts are racing.
Don't understand how the days keep getting darker when winter approaches. Wish I had a way to magically feel the ocean and see the sun.

Products

I know we touched on this a little at club last night, but keep your eye on cricut products especially if it is something you really want.

It seems as if the "big box stores" are clearance many of the products, this could mean that a newer and better model is coming out or that they have decided to discontinue making those products.

Some of those I have heard are the gypsy, the cake, the mini cake, all MS cricut products.

It seems to me that if the cricut products are scarce than people will take a second look at the new Imagine, which has not been successful at all. I am sure they put lots of money into the development of this product and need to recoup some of that.
We will have some idea come the end of Jan on where the line is going, but until then remember provo craft has never been a company that cares about the consumer, only what profits it can make.

So

Something I Heard today

You don't need to have an opinion if you don't have the responsibility.

Very enlightening!

Be faithful in your dealings today, give of yourself, loving those you meet.

Change

As much as I believe change is usually good, adjusting to change is the pitts.

The older I get the harder it is to embrace any change. Finding ways to adapt can also be very challenging.

So what do you do to syke yourself out to love the changes that we face everyday, week or month.

Traditions

What are you doing for the holiday season?
Do you have your baking done, your cards mailed?

Is your decorating finished?

Have you scaled done your expectations?

Take the time this holiday season to make the people you care about happy.
Not with things, but with your time, creating memories.
The things you can always replace, this time you can never get back, the memories last your life time and beyond.

Do something nice, be something special, give. The rewards you receive will be worth the effort.

The Wilderness!

Sometime you need to just travel through the wilderness to reap the rewards.

But if you hear the voices you arrive much sooner with less concerns than if you just keep wandering with your deafness.

Sometimes you need to leave those you love find their own path.

Weston Price

There is a meeting of the local chapter of the Weston Price foundation on Monday night at 7 pm Grace Church in Country Club.
Also the YMCA is having a showing of FOOD INC, on Thursday, that is tomorrow. I forget the details of it but think it is at 7 also.

Just some local support for eating clean and healthy. Seems everyone would want to participate.

Consequences

You choose. You choose if its worth it or not. Is what worth it?
The consequences of your actions. Its called a thinking free mind. We get to choose to be good, or be bad. We can choose.
But think it through. Even when you think you are doing good, it could be against Gods plan, so your good could consequences you are not able to or want to deal with.

Ask God which direction to go, and actually listen to his answers. He will tell you when the time is right. Until then let it go.

Boundaries

As much as we all love our children sometimes it just seems they are trying their best to control us. They act as if they have free reign of our time, energies, monies, homes and possessions.
I am not sure if it is that we have encouraged the entitlement theology with our wanting them to have everything we did not. Their demands or requests which ever way they have learned works, have just seemed to take control of our beings.

Once you give them any of this it is so hard to say no in the future and believe me there comes a time when you must find the guts to say no. It will eventually come down to their wants over your needs and then it is all over because you are mean, don't understand and you are dealing with that 2 year old temper tantrum that is not quite as endearing as it was 30 + years ago.

If you were lucky enough to set the boundaries when they were two and keep them up as they age you are lucky enough and not dealing with this issues now.
If not there is a book you need to read called: Boundaries by Dr Henry Cloud. Ask for it for Christmas if not before.
It can put perspective in your life dealing with family, friends and others who demand of you. Remember it is not always obvious that they are demanding sometime they have learned how to expect and get without asking.

Allergies and Sensitivities!

We all attend many carry ins or dinners this time of year so it needs to be said that there are many allergies and sensitivities that we need to be concerned with. It is not that anyone needs to cater to others problems but please be aware that people have these problems and be honest and FORTH coming on telling how your products are made. It is up to the individual to manage their problems but they can't do it without honesty from you.

Everyone has the right to their likes and believes but for some it is much more serious and please be considerate.

I was talking to a relative yesterday who ate a piece of cake this week. She suffered for several days with symptoms that were unnecessary. So two different problems with this piece of cake.
One it was sugar free, because it was for a diabetic. No problem just say so. Two it contained aspartame. Which my sister is sensitive to. So one person needed the sugar free, one person cannot have aspartame. Should she have asked? Probably, but I am aware she has this problem, many people do, it is serious, I am also aware that a friend has diabetes, I am aware another friend is allergic to fish, I am aware that another dislikes mushrooms, another rice. I also make it a point to tell these special people in my life that an ingredient that they can't or choose not to consume is in a product.
PLEASE because a problem is not yours doesn't mean it doesn't exist.
Sucrolose-Splenda
Aspartame-
Gluten
Nuts
Seafood
iodine
sugar
wheat
soy
dairy
are some of the most common problem foods, the list is becoming longer. We are messing GMOS with our foods, which seems to make them harder for our bodies to use as nutrients and causing reactions.
Not asking you to change the way you cook or what you serve, just asking to be upfront and say this is.......!

Flu

PSA

Just because you are vomiting does not mean you have the "flu" especially if you got your flu shot.

I have heard at least 10 times this week that somebody is vomiting with the flu.

You might have a virus, but the flu is an upper respiratory illness, you have a fever, you have achy joints, you have cold type symptoms, and you may or may not vomit. You don't have other bathroom problems. You will probably be sick for at least a week, more likely two or three.

If you are vomiting and have diarrhea you have a virus, a virus that is not the influenza,
It could be Nora virus, it could be salmonella or e-coli, but it is not the flu. It probably will last for 2 or 3 days.

It could be a number of other things.

Sorry just annoying.

OOPS!

Dropped and busted my laptop. Can't stand being on the desktop, too slow. So won't be around much either here or on facebook.
Hope we can save the harddrive but not sure that is possible. So all the senior stuff is gone and all recent stuff like gypsy files and such Make the cut, so make sure you back up your files, to something other than what you are working on.

I haven't backed up to my external harddrive for a while, and now not sure I can. I did back up to my laptops extra drive, alot of good that does.
Think I would learn by now to do as I say not as I do.

With all there is about tho this is minor.

Thinking and praying for friends today.

Holiday Splurges

Dr. Phil is advertising a new diet, how to stop from gaining the holday 12.

Hello! Splurging on the holiday is not the problem, splurgeing for the next 5 weeks yep could be.

The answer is nothing more than, splurge on the day, yep Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years. Then eat sensibly for the other 32 days. Hello you don't need to gain during the holiday. You can't eat enough at one meal to gain 12 pounds.

Stop this insanity.

Sleeping on Black Friday.

Well I should have went shopping.
Would be less tire and gotten more sleep.

Watched Santa Paws last night it finished about 11. Kids were two hyped up to go to sleep. Now it is 6:30, I have been up since 4.

Between coughing, snoring, moning, tossing, turning. And I am on the couch. No sleep to be had.
Six kids and I do not make a great night of sleep.

Hope they are all in good moods when they arise, cause I know I won't be.

The tree is kind of decorated. The choo choo is running. So a few things were accomplished.
Turkey day is over and it is on to Merry Christmas.

I made carmel corn and it is good, but I need a lighter coating anyone have a tried and true recipe.

Thankful!

I am thanful.
Thankful that everyday I can decide to get out of bed and move.

That when I do choose to move that I feel better, stronger, need less pain medicine and have less pain.

Thankful that I can do things my way, tho sometime modified from what I use to do.

Thankful that I don't have some of the horrific diseases or situations that others have had to live with this year.

Thankful that I can choose how I live, believe and celebrate.

Thankful that we have been so blessed, with the easy life that we have here in America.

Thankful that we are able to give of ourselves.

Thankful for you family and friends.

Normals

My normal is not your normal.

In most cases that doesn't make mine right and yours wrong or vice versa.

But there are rules to follow, life laws to follow and because your life has not been the best doesn't mean you can't pull up your pants and become a better person.

Isn't that what we all should strive for? Improving ourselves to make life better for others.

Shouldn't we concentrate on being positive, learning, teaching, giving, appreciating what we have.

Shouldn't we remember it doesn't have to be our way.

It should be the way for the better of world.

Shouldn't we know good or bad, easy or hard, it isn't all about you.

Be an example, be good, give of yourself, and be thankful for what you do have.

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is this week. A time to gather and give thanks and eat. Again eat and again eat.

You know what? It is okay to indulge yourself on Thanksgiving. How often do you get to eat that turkey and dressing and potatoes and gravy and pie? Once a year right?

If that is all we did we could do it and not have a weight problem, but just like birthdays and any other holiday now days, it becomes a month celebration.

Choose one day to splurge, make it be your favorite cook and recipes, and then eat a normal meal with proper portions at all the other celebrations and enjoy the company instead.

Pretty simple Uhhh?

Fats

Somehow in the past 40 years we have became fatter and less healthy. About 40 years ago is when the AHA, FDA and numerous others decide that fats was bad, sat fat was super bad and we all were getting heart disease because we consumed unhealthy fats. We chose to start using manufactured "healthy oils", now we know that they have transfats, and that these fats become more unstable as we heat them.

FATS are not bad, some are better than others, some are evil, and some are good for you.

It is like anything else find the right formula for you.

The Weston Price meeting for December is on FATS. Please join us and find out the truth about fat. I think it is on December 13, (second Monday), there is another meeting in Putnam County which I think is held on the first Tuesday of the month.

Just a little more knowledge about fat and sugars.

We added sugars and salt as we trimmed the fat.

We know that sugars cause us to be fat and that they feed cancer.
Sugar is not just sugar, you body converts carbs to sugar, so you need to add in your carbs when you are determining how much sugar you are consuming.

All you people who are "scared" of cancer YOU ARE FEEDING IT WITH YOUR DIET!

Also Food Inc, will be shown at the YMCA on December 9, if you have not seen this movie, it gives you a good idea on what is happening with our food and why we are not getting the proper nutrition anymore.

Its beginning to look a lot like......

Thanksgiving.
Well we do tend to overlook a great holiday. So much hustle and bustle to get to the big one, that we don't celebrate in November.
But then again, when did any of the holidays need a month or more of celebration. Halloween starts in September, Christmas starts in October, Thanksgiving never gets it due, birthdays are celebrated any time and go on for days on end. You might not beable to make it a true CELEBRATION if you actually celebrate you birthday on the day you were born. Period.

How entitled we think we are, and how we forget to give thanks for all we have.

Celebrate Thanksgiving everyday this year, start today or on the 25 and give thanks everyday for your blessings. Pray and ask for help for your challenges and listen as our savior blesses you with his wisdom. Concentrate on your blessings, journal those blessings. You can journal on a blog, on facebook or even the old fashioned way with paper and pencil. Review those entries once a month and give thanks, give thanks, give thanks.

Raising Kids

Watched 19 kids during the night last night.

I don't normally watch this, but do find the people fascinating. They seem so positive and work hard at doing things right. Not sure even with kids being a blessing why you would want that many, but they are supporting them.

So Michelle philosophy on the most important things to teach your children.

Attentiveness
obedience
self- control

I need to add one more that is bothering me.
Teach your kids to follow the rules.
It doesn't matter whether you believe the rule or not.
It is there for a reason.
Stop changing it to fit your criteria, stop trying to adjust it. Just teach them to follow them.

Knox County

Remember my post on Scrapbook Bootcamp. Well the area we visited has been having a disturbing situation for the past week.

Four people were ubducted and only one has been found. A 13 year old young girl was found gagged and bound in her abductors basement. His parents lived by her home, there was beer and blood found in her home, and nothing else. Very challenging for law officials.

This has made national news in the last few days.
This is whole situation has played out in Pams hometown, it is very disturbing.

Just another situations on good people having bad things happeing to them with no rhyme or reason.

Toddlers and the Zoo!

Note to self. Toddlers are self-centered and want your undivided attentions and do not want to share you with other toddlers.

Zoo was challenging to corral three of them.

Tween boys really do not hear a thing you say and can only concentrate for a few seconds on helping.

Enough said.

The animals were amazing. But lots of stuff not opened.
Plenty to see and 4 hours is enough for two and three year olds.

Colton loved the aquarium need to group him with Ethan, but then neither one has a clue on staying together so they could be lost with each other and we never would find them.

Taylor you can find cause she was throwing a hissy every few minutes.

Ky and Dalton just went along with the flow. And that means there is hope for all kids. They both were the challenging ones a few years and months back.

Got to love spending time with all of them. Mickey D's always solves the hunger pains and Toy Story and Beauty and the Beast keeps them entertained in the car.

A long exhausting beautiful day. November and 70 sunny degrees. FANTASTIC!

Diets

Do you know that diets don't work! That statistics show that only 2% of any population benefit from any one diet. ANY DIET. That is stagering considering that the diet industry is one of the fastest growing business in North America.

And we are the unhealthest population also.

So where are you spending your money?

Weston Price Foundation Meeting

was last night.
If you are not familiar with Weston Price, he basically teaches eating for health, with good whole foods.

So lots of info on Cholesterol drugs and cholesterol it self the health benefits and problems of both.

It is amazing how different studies look when you understand the way the study was conducted and how the results are shown. We learned about relative and absolute risks and how different the results are when you understand what they are telling you.

Also that sometime in the future your doctor will be telling you not to worry about cholesterol, you need to be concerned with the numbers of your triglycerides, the partical size and the density of cholesterol.

Also that inflamationis is what causes heart deaths not cholesterol.
Sugar causes inflamation. ALL SUGARS. WHITE REFINED FOODS = SUGAR.

Along with candy and sodas, bread, crackers and all those processed foods turn to sugar in your body. Even those healthy foods in the health food store when they are made from processed grains with the added "fiber".

Please learn to cook and take the time to cook for yourself. Take 10 or 15 minutes off of facebook and you can throw a meal together. A healthy meal with meats and fats and vegies and no processed foods.
You just can't trust the manufactures to gives us the healthy foods we need. That is why we look the way we do.

Scrapbook Bootcamp!

Well four of your favorite people survived Scrapbook Bootcamp.
Several of us traveled to the hills of central Ohio to scrap for the weekend.
We started on Friday morning, ate breakfast in the large metropolis of Upper Sandusky.

Next we jouneyed on to Marion, OH where we found a nice Scrapbook Store called A2Z. It has a banner on the upper building which says Mad Scrapper, but is under new owner.
I know the Mad Scrapper use to be located down town, so I was never at the store at the shopping center so don't know how similar it is to the last Mad scrapper.
The A2Z store is small but very nice. Lots of new type products that I had not seen before.

We than ventured thru Mt Vernon, Ohio and to the east we went, up and down and all around we traveled to the great small community, you may either call, Dannville or Milltown or near Howard or whatever. You are now visiting rural Ohio, with beautiful scenery, lots of farms, small stores at crossroads, beautiful new schools and a really nice, large, friendly, scrapbook store.

We really had a great time, lots of space to crop, lots of product, both old and new, many new friends.

Mark you calendars, we are planning on going back in May, (if not before) for National Scrapbook Day, so if you would like to join us, it is Scrapbooking Bootcamp!

You get to get up early, go to bed late, eat on schedule, have fun, be abused, make new friends, copy lots of inspiration, and scrap, scrap, scrap.

I even snuck off for a short walk one morning, crisp, beautiful accelerating walk. (I was concerned about the penality for this as this wasn't on the schedule: ).

So keep in mind this was a terrific weekend, save your money, (lots of shopping) and join us at
Scrapbook Haven in May for Patti's 10 Anniversary and National Scrapbook Day, space is limited to 25 so make your decision soon.

Relationships and Love

What is love? Love is giving of yourself, even when the receiver doesn't deserve it.

It means learning how to receive from them even when their gift is not what you expected or even wanted.

It means learning how to comunicate, its not always them.

It means figuring out YOU and finding joy in the mudane.

It means knowing that maybe the reason you are no longer on the pedestal is because of you not them.

You teach someone how to treat you, expect more get mo

Let them fight it out?

Not anymore. Stop the fueding. Teach them to respect each other.

Let them watch the political ads, teach them to lie about each other to get the upper edge.

But never ever let them fight it out, siblings can no longer pick on each other, learn to compromise, fight it out.

BIG BROTHER is watching and your will loose your children.

Let the older child pick on the ,step in an intervene, let the younger child pick on the older, scream even when the older child is not in the room. Correct older child again. Let the younger run the show, they don't understand. Let the older control, they don't know. Don't let them work it out, don't make them have time out, don't teach them to respect each other.

Just saying we need to get the government out of our lives.

Doing a little better.

I have been fighting swollen glands for the better part of a week. Finally went to the doc and was given one of those awful antibiotics. Of course now I am dealing with yeast and still have the headache and swollen glands. Now the antibiotic you take for 3 days and it last for 10. So now we know why are of those chemicals are dangerous. They can make them last as long as they want them too, or if they want forever.

Took all three babies to see Toy Story last night and then went to the Kewpee for FF and Malts. Of course forgot that Colten won't eat anything chocalte so his "ice cream" was a huge disappointment. Then frozen yogurt saved the day, vanilla of course.

These three kids are the best, set thru the movie and then sat in the chairs at Kewpee, listened and held hands.

They are so much fun to do things with.

Hope your Halloween is terrific.

Worrying

Are you a worry wart? How much time do we waste (time we can never recover) worrying about things we can not control? So much of the things that happen in our life our out of our control. Worrying about them does nothing. The answer is to actually turn those concerns over to GOD.

Not one person in the last day has even mentioned to me about the UPS plane in the UK.
A plane that was headed to Chicago, that was destined for a Jewish Synogue. Does that mean that we don't care about the Jewish people in our country or is it just that it doesn't effect us.

How devasted would you have been had that bomb exploded at OHara. ( I am not sure that is the airport it was scheduled to land at) How many people would have been effected. Would we be talking or silent the way we were with the trade centers. Would you be concerned then?

We definately pay more attention in this country to Charlie Sheen and Lindsy Lohen than we do to the terreriost whom are still going out to get us.

I know we can't worry about this, it is something we can't directly change, but we can be concerned, stay alert, pay attention.

God doesn't allow tragedy to happen to us, but when it does, he uses those tragic incidents to help us to move forward.

I am praying that we as Americans wake up to what is really happening in the world. That we figure it out, that the happenings in the world really do effect us on a personal level. That we learn to give in a loving spirit, not what others feel they need but what GOD tells us to give.

Quality and Quantity

Have you ever bought the low calorie frozen meals to help you out with your counting your calories?

Did you feel you had enough to eat, some of what I have purchased tasted good, others not so much. But the quality of ingredients are ridicules, just another low nutrient, low cost filler type things that go into those items. So they think they are filling, but I think I could eat five of these and still not feel full.

What about the "diets" that are delivered to your door? Me I could feed all seven of my children's families for the cost of what they consider one months. And then you still need to add your fresh foods to this.

What the heck is wrong with us. That we even consider paying out our hard earned monies to line someone else's pockets.

We can't figure out eating healthy? No. What we can't do is limit ourselves, we can't say no, we can't figure out we don't need to eat 24 seven. Once every 4 or 5 hours is enough. We don't need to celebrate every get together with food. Normal is eat, eat, eat. Celebrate with food, have snacks easily accessible in every cupboard.

Have you tried using high quality products and making your own? I know we could have more food, just getting the numbers right might be a challenge.

The New American Diet

I found a new interesting book at the library. It goes along with a lot of my believes of our food consumption.

How I wish more of us could embrace the reality of the poisons we consume.
How little we respect ourselves. It is just so easy to believe the lies and to fall back into the normal American diet.

On two peas today!

Do you judge the parent of horrible children?

The link here:

http://www.twopeasinabucket.com/mb.asp?cmd=dispaly&thread_id=3036490

Hopefully it will work and be useful.

I didn't think I did judge, but I know I do now.

It's hard for me to understand the new mentality that anything goes. How often the younger ones think its okay to allow the disrespect.

So I do judge. And the older I get the harder it is to say the right things.

Processes

Trying to make up some page kits to take with me to crops.
What are your processes for scrapping?
Do you have a plan?

How do you decide what to work on?

Wondering?

Wondering why my friends and family whom have government jobs have time to send me forwarded jokes and "psa" from junk email all the time.

Not only are they wasting my time they are wasting their time and my tax dollars.
They also take the risk of sabotaging the computer systems owned by us.

Ridiculous.

Cave Men

Children raised in caveman style are better adjusted and more intelligent.
So what is caveman style. You never leave your baby, the dinosaurs might eat him.
You keep them close, breast feed, teach them to poo on demand, spend lots of time rearing them.

You correct with positives instead of negative, only hurtful corrections when danger is immenient.

Watch at wild animals and notice how they take care of there babies.

Perceptions

Do you immediately decide if you will or won't like something?

Can anything change your mind?

Are you able to respect someone else's view?

Can someone saying what you might think isn't true influence you to look further into it?

Are you always true to your heart?

Building Relationships

First off if you don't like you, no one else will. You have to be okay with God and your self.
Every change has to start with you.

How do you go about building or repairing relationships?
If it is in your heart, you need to do something about it.

It is not about the quantity of time, but about the quality of the time you spend on the relationship.

Remember you teach someone how to treat you, once you change they will resist, because that is what they know, but with persistence you can change the way they respond.

Atitudes

How much different we would all be if we would just say, Yes I can!
Why do we make oursleves sick with worry when most things are out of our control anyways.

We need to just do it, and then its done.

New Imagine?

What are your thoughts on the Imagine? I know I have no plans to purchase it, I wonder also what effect its success will have on our Cricuts.

As much as I don't trust Provo Craft, and I love my expression it is just interesting to see how many Cricut blogs have embraced the Imagine.

I want the info for my Cricut back, I need inspired.

What are your thoughts?

Weston Price Foundation

I attended the WPF meeting last night at Grace Church (Annex?)
The meeting was on Raw Milk. Lots of interesting information. Some good some scary.

The meetings are held on the second Monday of the month at 7:00pm. The doors open at 6:30 and there are whole health vendors selling their wares.

The next meeting will be discussing cholesterol problems and treatments. November 8,

There is a physcian who gives a lecture on the topic, and then other speakers also.

Interesting.

Are you listening to the lies?

We all know that fat and sugar are bad for us, right?

So how do we fix it. If we eat less fat, we add more sugar. That is just the way the manufactures do it.

So now we need to stop all sugars, stop all fat and load up on grains. Grains with fiber. Added fiber. That has dextrose in it. Which means sugar, and the grains themselves turn to sugar, sooner than later because the grains have had all nutrition taken out and fiber and vitamins put back in. Than they label them whole grains because they have a gram or two or three of whole grains added back in.

Think! Fat is not bad it is good for you, WHOLE grains are good for you, Natural sugars have vitamins in them too.

The problem is too much, because we have screwed with our foods, our bodies don't know what they want, they CRAVE too much.

Eat a proper balance of nutrient rich foods. You won't be hungry. Your MIND and BODY will thank you.

Never choose low fat, low sugar LABELED foods. Try your best to choose the closest to nature that is possible.

Have a treat occasionally (once a week), choose fruits for dessert most days. Stop poisoning your kids, feed them well too.

Before eating anything drink a glass of pure water. Most often we are not hungry, we are thirsty.

Stop snacking eat only at meals and make them 4 hours apart.

Get your body to a good for you weight. Stop blaming your health. Stop blaming your medicines.

This is all doable. Not hard. But a reality.

Sunday, October 10, 2010

Take time to smell the roses!

Do you look at the beauty around you? Take a minute to appreciate nature, take a walk LOOK.
There is much beauty just waiting to be enjoyed.

Saturday, October 9, 2010

Enjoy!

Make yourself ENJOY whatever you are doing right now.

Where ever you are in your life.

Whatever God has blessed you with.

Friday, October 8, 2010

What do you consider healthy?

What constitutes healthy for you?
Do you believe mainstream medicine? the nutritional cops?

"They" are still telling us this and that about healthy eating. Exercise.

Is it working?

Not much. So much not much that we now believe someone who is at a healthy weight "looks bad"

But we who are 20, 30, 50 or 100 pounds overweight look "good", "healthy".

Since you started taking their medications has your "disease" went into remission.

Is it their medicines or your disease that is destroying your body?

Healthy living has to start with healthy foods.
If we have proper nutrition our bodies do not destroy themselves.

Just because food has "healthy properties" does not mean it is "feeding us"

We need to make sure everything we put in our bodies is nutritionally feeding us.
After we are healthy than we can "treat" our minds with the things we thing we can no longer do without.

Once you start eating "real" food, you will be surprised at how much the "junk" food doesn't satisfy your cravings.

Thursday, October 7, 2010

On course

What alters your course? Is it good or bad?

When we get off course it can stop our progression or just send us on a new path.

So keep on the track or take the high road, but keep on keeping on.

Wednesday, October 6, 2010

Hows that working for you?

If you keep getting the same results and they are not the results you want you think maybe its time for change?

Yep I am talking to you!

We can Change!

We do make a difference.

We can promote change.

We can determine what we allow the manufactures to sell us.

Until recently it was illegal in Ohio to lable your milk as drug free.

People who care enough about you and your childrens health have recently got this law changed.

You may now buy milk and know it is drug free.

Please get on the band wagon and help to change the GMO foods. Another health risk that has been banned for sale in Europe. We need to stop the growing and sale of these products. (mostly grain at this point) But they are developing and selling fruits and vegetables.

Money talks much more than any other media. SO STOP BUYING PRODUCTS MADE WITH THESE GMO FOODS.
Ask when you order in a resturant. IF they don't know it is.
Also remember if you are eating food fed GMO products you are eating GMO foods also.

Faith!

What is faith to you?

How do you continue to have faith?

If you are looking for a reason to not beleive it takes nothing. If you are looking for a reason to beleive it is called FAITH.

Back to Food

If you have not researched GMO food. Please do so. Let the manufactures know that we won't support their products if they continue to support Monsanto.

How do you get what you want?

You know the "secret" is to just ask. So why when I ask do I never receive what I think I am asking for?

Left the house to go to the Y today. Changed my mind on the way and decide to go and have hightlight put in my hair. Knew it should be cut too.

Went to a nice salon, asked if they had a room for a walk in, they said let me check.
Came back and said yes. So Iask for highlights, a bob cut about 1 inch below my chin with an under cut, because otherwise it will flip and stick out.
She asked what color I wanted my highlights, I said oh something fall, nothing real blonde, but carmel, rust or mahogony would be allright. She asked about a purple and showed me hers in her hair, I said fine, I really didn't know I have never had highlights before. Well $64. later, I do have purple, you really don't see it, cause my hair is so dark, and I have a bob that is chin length, not an inch below, and it is flipping. Go figure.

What should I have asked for?

Time Manegement

Do you ever wonder how productive we could be if:

We spent as much time taking care of what we need to as we do checking peoples status on facebook?

We used our time taking care of ourselves (fixing our own food, so we know what is in it, moving our bodies ) instead of traveling to a restaurant, waiting in line for a table or our food, waiting for said food to be delivered to our table.

Actually just doing it instead of procrastinating about getting it done.

Embossing

Had an fun night working with embossing powders. Enjoying good friends. Eating of course always eating, but at least healthy. Pickled beats and shredded fiesta chicken over rice. Sorry Kat, don't know the name of the recipe.
Some neat techniques, but embossing powder is a real mess. I just not sure I get it. If anyone has some amazing clarification of the benifits of embossing powders let me know.

Also if anyone understands why my curser keeps going to wherever it wants when I am typing please tell me how to fix it.

Parade

Did you read the article about Drew Carey in the newspaper's Parade Sunday.
It talks about is weight lose.

Something he said in the article was that after eating healthy for several months he went off his "diet" and then felt horrible (physically) for the next day or several days.
He said, "Eating crappy food is not a reward, it is a punishment." He also said: That being healthy is not banishing a cupcake or piece of pizza, but eating the whole cake or pie is not eating healthy and you my as well hit yourself in the face as a reward.

Isn't it amazing how when someone is looking good and at the correct body weight we find a way to excuse their success as must have had weight loss surgery or are they wearing protective gear (spanx). Why does it matter. Its our excuse for not being successful. For allowing the "industry" to control us.
There is no magic. We eat too much. We eat too much of the wrong things. We are brainwashed into beleiving that things are healthy or good for us. That we should feed our kids these items, it will make them healthier.

If you kid won't eat any "real food items" it is because they are addicted to the manufactures junk. If you only have the "real food items" in you home they will eat them. Now you have too use common sense. Not everyone likes brocolli, but offer carrots, celery, cucumbers, cauliflower and broccoli. Offer oranges, apples, grapes, bananas and strawberries. Some peanut butter, or cheese, or a bean dip. (If purchased please check ingredients) A piece of cut up chicken, a boiled egg. They will eat it eventually. All of the above items store well in zip lock snack bags. They will last several days in the frig. Some kids would prefer their vegies steamed instead of raw, so if they don't give in on the raw go with the steamed after a few days.

Please be careful adding in breads, most all of the bread sold today has loads of corn sugar in it along with additives that cause cravings. Buy a bread machine and make your own. Or find a farmers market to buy some. Yes this is a little work but try it and see how much easier it to deal with YOURS and THEIR behavior problems.

Reap the Good Life

If you life is a mess because of decisions you have made, God says: you must change, start sowing good seeds, down the road somewhere you will reap.

When dealing with trials don't try to figure out what you did wrong. You will have trials, so obey Gods word long enough and you will reap rewards for his plan for you life.

Life is hard, but God is good.

Create a Critter

I received my Create a Critter cartridge yesterday. It is really a nice cartridge. I love the way they have set up the layers which make it so easy to do the animals. If you have thought about this cartridge it is really useful. The animals are remarkable and all of the accessories make it quite worth the cost.

I think I will be using this cartridge alot for cards and pages.

I don't like it!

How many things do you refuse to eat? How many do you prefer not to eat? What do you just love?

We were always encouraged to try many foods. Kids today not so much.

We never had to eat everything on our plates but were told not to waste either. You know the poor kids in China don't get enough to eat.

Today because food is so "cheap" and "easy" to fix or get we eat only what we LIKE, we never make do. We eat lots of what we like.
As we develope our tastes buds we are influenced by the ingredients that manufacturers add to there foods. We become addicted much quicker than in our day and age.

If you want an eye opener look at the ingredients of baby formula that we fed our kids compared to ingredients of what we our feeding our grandkids.
Now it does no better to switch to milk today for it contains very little nutrition also.
It is ultra pasturized, heated to a super fast heat. We have always known that heating vegetables reduces the amount of nutrients why do we beleive it is best for a "safe" supply of milk.

Please think about what you are eating and feeding your kids.
Fix a meal and let them eat peanut butter if they won't try the foods, but fix it again next week. Even use the psycology of you can't eat this it is only for grownups. They will eventually try it. They might or might not like it but they will try it. And maybe they will develope a taste for it .

Three Life Changing Principles

1. Eliminate excuses and avoid procrastination.

Put your faith into action.

2. Face the truth no matter how painful.

God's word is full of truth.

3. Stop feeling sorry for yourself.

Understand who you are in Jesus Christ.

Do you have kids or grandkids who text, use cell phones, facebook, or twitter.

Please tell them over and over again. That their actions follow them forever. And someone somewhere will be able to pull their info.

If you use these products you have no privacy.

Just so you know.

Please tell them.

Club

Club tomorrow night at my house. I think I am changing my menu to reflect summer instead of fall. It looks like it might be a hot day.
The menu also needs to be easy for I probably will be venturing to Toledo for Colton's check up from surgery. 3 hours travel for a 5 minute check up but at least it looks as if the surgery was successful this time and the little tiker won't have to go through it again.
Now who wants to be in charge of Dalton as he has it done in October. He is not as easy going as Colton is.

They have just released that genetically modified salmon is safe for us to eat!

Hello I don't want frankenstein salmon in my freezer.

Do you?

Ethics and Morals

So does God say stealing is worse or better than adultery? Are they the same?
What does Gods word say?

When does someones morals effect how much you are around them? beleive in them? take directions from them?

How much do someones words effect your opinion?

Saturday, September 18, 2010

Are you being positve?

Is your glass half empty or half full?

It is so much easier to be half empty. I'm tired, I can't, I'am sick. When do you advertise your joy?

Reverse your words and your body will respond as will all of those around you.

Be an inspiration for doing more, being more, POSITIVE!

Find it, be it!

Healthy Living

What is your plan for staying healthy as we age?

Do you keep moving or have you become a couch potato?

What have you decided is YOUR best option for comsuming nutrition?

Hows it working for you?

Have your improved your health? staying stagnant? or going downhill?

How long when you decide to make a change does it take you to fall off the wagon?

When are you going to start taking care of YOU?

Wednesday, September 15, 2010

What's in a name?

Did you hear or read that they want to change HFCS to Corn Sugar. How many people will become confused. Seems as if their compaign to convince us that HFCS is safe didn't quite work.

If it is just sugar why frutose?

Cane sugar is different than beet sugar.
HFCS is different than corn syrup.

Honey is different than sugar.

All are metabolized different in our bodies.
HFCS=Corn Sugar=badly metabolized by human bodies (and mice).
They know this, they also know too much money will be lost if we continue to shun it.

Blessings

Do you thank God for your blessings or do you only pray when you need something?

Are you like the kids always trying to get your own way?

Do you even realize how many blessings you truely have?

Do you feel guilty when you are thankful for something that others might judge you for?

Take it up with God, he has the answers and appreciates your thankfulness.

Tim Holtz on HSN

Tim is on at 10 this morning and then again at 4. Could have these time wrong but that is what I was told.

Eat this not that

Have you listened to this. I saw him again and he was recommending eating cookie crisp cereal instead of chocolate shredded mini wheats. Well you will save a few calories if you follow his advice but you will have a lot less nutrition from the food.

So what is it, do we want calories or nutrition.

Snarky

Also just want to thank everyone for contributing to this blog.

I love having all the in put that you provide.

I also love hearing I can't get there, It won't let me post.

I spend time getting things on here cause you guys say you miss me posting, cause you say you want to see.

I have to learn and figure out how to get things on here also.

Just saying.

Imagine

Not sure how many of you keep up to date on the latest happenings, but Cricut has released a new machine. It is called the Imagine. It will be on HSN on the 14. It will cut and print all your diecuts. It retails for 499. of course I am sure you can find it cheaper.

My reason for posting this is I am ticked. I am ticked with all manufactures that think I can learn fully their items before they tempt me with a new and improved electronic.

Everyblog I look at to get ideas is featuring ideas on the imagine now, no more expression, no more baby bug, just the imagine. I have time to look and read and learn and they want me to learn the imagine. Nope going to keep looking for info for my big bug. Going to chalk my diecuts to give them the homey look, going to fully learn everything I can on this great machine.

And if any of you are tempted, keep it to yourself, I don't want to know.

Second set of sketches

Have fun with these sketches. I also need to know who will be coming and who will not.

Please give me an update.

I hopefully will be at the crop for at least part of the time on Saturday, if you would prefer doing you pages there I can bring them with me.

China again!

Laura is having a great time in China, I have had several letters from her. Hopefully we will see lots of photos with lots of inspiration for new projects when she returns. Say a few prayers that she continues to improve with her training. It is really challenging as is the culture shock.

Words

So how do you use your words?
What words do you find acceptable?
How have you allowed the society you live in to control you?

What makes poop any better to hear than shit.
Potty than pee.

I hear all the time how I never say that word, or I don't like hearing that word, but Jesus Christ or Oh God is not even thought of.

The Bible says do not take the Lords name in vain. It doesn't discuss "our" cuss words at all.

Follow the Bible and get over the rest!

Yes I do know the Bible comdemns using words of profanity. But read all the word. Your profanity is when you talk about someone, it does not have to be specific words.

New bundle of joy!

In case you haven't heard Cindy is grandma to a beautiful new grandson.
Jackson arrived last evening and is doing well. He is really cute from the two pictures I have seen.

Good size kid for being almost a month early.
8lbs 4 oz 20.5 inches.

Time

Sorry but haven't been able to get the other sketch to load up will get it up before the weekend.

Don't let the time it takes to complete a task stop you from doing it, the time will pass anyway, and you could have some of it accomplished.

Tuesday, September 7, 2010

Different Sketch

Of course scraplifted! Hopefully will have another one tonight.
Have a few prizes left so make a layout from either sketch and I will get you a prize. Must be finished when you come to class to be eligible for prize.

Skipping

Been very bad about skipping days on here again.
Have to think up some topics to post about.

Do you have any suggestions?

Have a busy fall planned already.
Getting Senior Album finished up, having club at my house. Starting to follow some stamping techniques. Using some products I have here.

My goal for August was to make a bunch of cards, didn't do it. So need to catch that up also.

Need to make a cape with a hood for Taylor bug for trick or treat.

So what is on your agenda for fall?

China

My daughter in law, Laura left for China this morning.
She will be studying Kungfu with the shalom monks for 6 days.
She became a black belt in Karate this last spring. One of her goals was to study in China.
Studying in China is all together different than studying in the US.

Aren't we so fortunate that we can roam the world and experience other cultures today.

We have so many blessings.

So count your blessings and decide a special goal to work towards today.
Share it if you will!

Common Sense

So wish we had a little bit more of this going around today.

Bottom line.
Is it working for you? Keep doing it.

Is it not working for your? Change it!

Ya Think?

Fats

When will we get our heads back into reality. Fats are not bad. Period. Fats are good for us. Now the reality fact. We have been made to beleive that manufactured fats are healthier, NO they are not.

Margerine, corn oil, canella oil, not good.

Lard, tallon, butter yes good fats. Coconut, palm tree, olive oil yes good.

All our brains have been feed the last 40 years was bad science. BAD not good but BAD.

Tomorrow it will be somthing else, but raw unrefined good foods are what we should be eating. Not foods that are processed.

Think whip cream versus cool whip.

Please two things to give up that really are causing our health problems.

High fructose corn syrup and manufactured fats.

Sunday, August 29, 2010

privacy

I know they don't listen to us, but if you have young ones(younger than us). That don't have life expirence and/or common sense. Please discuss privacy with them.

Tell them that everyone can read about anything your write on facebook and twitter and such.

Someone whom your trust today could prove untrustworthy tomorrow and copy and post whatever you said whereever they want.

And if you don't care today someday you may care. You may be trying to find a job, or even get yourself out of trouble and could have landed yourself in deep SH** by something you posted when you were young and dumb and didn't know better but thought you ruled the world.

And testing is even worse.

Done.

Other toxins

I know I talk a lot about food and what it does to our bodies. I think we actually have to make a conscious and long effort to remain without the items to see how much better we feel.

But sometimes even when we are eating correctly other items tend to sabotage our efforts.

Topical products do absorb through the skin and cause effects.

What we breath effects how we feel and how our body reacts.

Even what we soak in. Think hot tubs and pools. How many chemicals do you expose yourself or your kids too. (No chlorine is not safe)
Lots of toxins are absorbed either through our breathing or our skins. Yes we do have barriers but the chemicals, bacteria and virus have figured ways to get around the barriers.

Now some of this of course is good, but some is very troubling.

Remember the chemicals we use to fight the bacteria and virus sometimes can be much more lethal.
When we are exposed to numerous chemicals that do not work their way out and keep building. then we are much more at risk.
Please think about what you are using and doing, read ingredients even on the soap, shampoos, sunscreen and lotions. Try to find something you like that is natural and safe.

Frutose again?

New report that fructose feeds cancer. UMM That has been knowledge for at least 20 years.

Yes sugar does feed cancer. We all should know this, why don't we? Relative info; Cancer is striking younger and more often.

Yes we all have known cancer patients but now so many of the cancer patients being diagnosed are in there mid 30's to mid 40's. Our kids ages!

What did we feed them? Processed foods. How many "hamburger helpers" did you feed them?
How much soda did you allow them to drink?

Do you realize with the food labeling rules today that you could be getting your limits of sugar and not even know it. Yep that is reality. The same with fat. If they make the serving size small enough to keep it the "nutrient" below 1/2 gram they don't have to report it.
How many servings are you eating?

Please take a look at what you are eating and what you are feeding the little ones.

It does make a difference in all of our health, the way we feel and the way we act.

Miserable

Why do people insist on being miserable? Especially with things you have a choice on.

You decide on how to let people treat you.
You decide on what you will and what you will not do.
You decide on how to react when someone else does something to you.

You decide whether the glass is half empty or half full.
Your attitude decides how easy or hard it is.

God gives you the ability to handle whatever comes your way, all you have to do is ask.
And follow directions when he answers.

Tuesday, August 24, 2010

Nutrition

Do you monitor the nutrition of the foods you eat. I hear all of the time about low fat or low carb.
But do you actually realize how much or what you are eating.
I was recently on a message board where it was asked to post your favorite recipe tjat gets the most compliments when taken to a carryin.
All the recipes posted where carb dense with a lot of fat.
That would be great if we can consider the "carryin" as a special occasion, but that certainly isn't the norm here anymore. We average one or two carryin meals a week. If it is club week or crop week add on another.
No wonder we have such a high incident of obesity in our society.

Reconsider how often you eat whatever.

Grouchy

Does your personality mimic Oscar?

Do you ask for things and then complain when you get them.

Think maybe it is time to change your attitude.

Stop complaining, rejoice in your blessings.

Show your self to be a bright light in a dark world.

Reminders

Tomorrow is Friday. There is a crop in Findlay at the The Scrappers Place on Friday and Saturday, also there is a crop at the Cable Alliance Church on Saturday 10:30 am to 11 pm.

Food Frenzy

I have been on a food frenzy for the last few days. Not eating too much but definately not eating the foods that are good for me.
I so beleive the food hype that many of the items we eat are not really food. I don't understand our need to consume them even when we know better.
I am going to try to find my way back to eating healthy again and listening to my body without the worrying about what others think.

The Brand The Source and the Quality really does count.

Homemakers Camp

Well another year of Homemakers Camp is finished. We had a fantastic time of fellowship and crafts.
Hope some of you will join us next year. We are trying to boost the attendence. If we can get 85 people signed up we will have more privlages at camp. Like unlimited swim time, wagon rides and costs will decrease.
If not mistaken there were about 15 scrapbookers there this year.
Camp is held each year at Widewater Retreat the second weekend in August.

Also we have had interest again in doing a weekend scrapbook retreat. I will plan one if I am sure I would have attendance needed. I do not want to do the work involved to have people say they want it but then not really be interested.
We have two choices in venue. One is at Camp Palmer retreat center. It is about $60d. for Friday thru Sunday. Minimum of seven. This is for lodging only, we would be responsible for doing our own food.
Or Wide Water which is about $115.00 with meals included. (Friday supper, breakfast, lunch and dinner on Sat, Brunch on Sunday. Sodas and popcorn all you want. ) Minimum of 15 or 20 not sure.
If you are interested I need you to email me, also I am going to ask you to get a commitment from a friend, who is not normally with in our group, who would be interested in coming.
When I have at least 10 people commited I wil check on dates available.

Calming Frustration

Experience peace rather than Frustration.

If it is wrong I need to make it right. But I can't make it right.
It is Gods problem to fix the problems not mine.

If you are always stressed out, find out what is stealing your peace.
You can't change it. Everybody has a right to their own choices.

God uses the circumstances to change you. Look at the opportunities you are being given.

Do what you can do, if you can't do it leave it alone and let God handle.
Be a partener with God.
God won't do you part and you can't do his part.
To stop wandering in the wilderness you must GET IT.

Peace doesn't just happen you must pursue it.

Just a little whine

Now listen to my whine.
Well! Homemakers camp is tomorrow. Getting product ready to work on cards. My arthritic pain in my hand is back. Hasn't shown up for a quite a few years, and the thumb hasn't show up since doing cpr while working for fire dept. And that is where it is, first thumb joint up to wrist. Not sure how I will make baskets I have signed up to make.
Up all night with pain even with tylenol 3 and my brace back on. Do not want to have to go on steroids or vicodin. Hope it calms down soon on its on.

How do people with disablities live such productive lifes, when I can't even handle a little pain.

Need to work on this attitude.

Interesting

Don't you find it interesting that I can find time to watch Days of Our Lives most days, but tend to skip the Joyce Meyers or exercising or journaling my food intake when "I don't have time".

Need to work on time management.

Food Inc

The YMCA is having a movie night with Food Inc. There will be professionals there to discuss the movie afterward. Dec 9, 2010.
Interesting how many people are getting on the bandwagon and looking for healthier options in our food supply.

I Think I Can?

Do you remember the little engine that could. Who are you?
Can you or can't you?
Your attitude is what makes the difference.
Sure there are challenges to get in the way, are you letting them. Or are you conquering them.

Attitude, Words, Opinions, what are you making excuses for.

Get positive, throw out the negative.
Work towards your goals!

Low Carb vs Low Fat

Latest research shows virtually no difference in the weight loss or health of people on either diet.
The low carb did have a slight edge in lowering cholesteral in the long term, not short term. Neither did a whole lot on actual weight loss, I think it was like a 12lb loss in a years time.
Which is a pound a month, if that is all I was losing, I certainly couldn't remain on their eating plan.
Even in their studies they are still trying to make us remain fat.

So it is back to the drawing board, you need to figure what is best for you. What foods make you have cravings. What food can you consume and still keep your calorie counts under control.

I feel the best thing is when food stops being the end all. When you finally find something that gives you pleasure, sooths those concerns without having to put it into your mouth.

Now what ever that happens to be you need to find something that is not destructive. Shopping is not an option for replacing bad eating habits. Neither is drinking, smoking, or gambling.

See that is what it all comes down to. Some people call them addictions. I think they are much more habits and fear of what we will do when we no longer have those things to fall back on, to be our excuse.

Stealth Fiber

Do you consume "stealth fiber"? That is products that claim health benefits from the added manufactured fiber. The most common is inulin.

The Best

Are you settleing? What are you worth?

Back to quanitity versus quality.

Which do you prefer. Me as I age and the days are at least half gone, me I am going for quality.

Why are we hanging on to the junk. The junk in our homes, our lifes, our food.
Why are we not insisting on the best.
Isn't it worth the anticipation, he wait, to do without until we can get the best?

I have settled for most of my live, now I am willing to do the work to be the best and to have the best life going forward. Are you?

Keep making progress.

I am not where I need to be but thank GOD I am not where I use to be.

I am okay and I am on my way.

Just keep making progress.

That didn't work!

Hope this one does. Sorry!

How do you document your days?

Do you journal?
If you don't you should think about starting. Keeping a journal gives you a chance to look back and see how far you have come.

Another nice way to journal is to use your camera. Do you carry one with you? Most phones have a camera on board today.
Take photos of your daily travels, your meals, your favorite drink.

Here is a link that helps you have better use of your digital camera.

Are you Listening?

Do you hear what plans are being made for you?

Who guides you?

Are you listening?

Seasons

Where are you in your life, have you changed seasons lately?

As we grow, we change directions in our life many times. These are our seasons.

Just like the seasons of the year, these periods can be long, easy, beautiful, challenging.
Sometimes we allow others to contol the seasons of our lifes.

We need to let God control them and we need to stop trying to please others. They really will not appreciate those deeds you are freely doing for them.

Even when we see no way of not doing them, it is just using you to make their lifes easier.

When we let others control us, especially at the risk of illness or exhaustion, we are doing no one any service.

We must take care of ourselves first, our needs. (not wants) We must also give to others, but not to the degree that they no longer help themselves.

Reflect on which season God has planned for you this year.

Busy Weekends

Well this weekend was the last weekend until the end of August that we have free. We spent yesterday running around the Dayton-Cincinnati area. Stopped at Simply Scrapbooks in Kettering, went to Jungle Jims again, looked for a Hobby Lobby, but Garmin said the closest was 88 miles away. (sometimes Garmin and I really don't get along) But it was a nice togetherness trip.
Next weekend is Nicks wedding, the following weekend Bills brother is having a party in Dayton, then it is time for Homemakers camp.
The following weekend is the crop at the church.
I had plans to get a crop in at my house but I don't see it as working for a weekend. Will think on this and see where it takes us.

Any suggestions?

Blessings

Are you struggling. Do you need to be blessed.

You can have it all. You just need to listen to the needs of others and give, not wants of others needs.

There are lessons to learn in our struggles, until you learn the lesson, the problems will continue.

If you need prayers, pray for others, if you need financial help, give to others, if you need mercy, give mercy and forgive. If you are lonely love someone else.

God's word does not mean to be pushover, but it does mean to follow it and to give.
First you need to take care of YOUR NEEDS.

Then give of yourself and find joy in doing so.

Milk part 2

Part two of the raw milk information.

Priorities

How do you keep your priorities straight? You need to always straighten them.
Keep organizing and putting your priorites in order.

Two Keys
Put God First
Love other people as you do yourself. Which means you need to take care of your self also. Love yourself but do not be in love with yourself.

Do you want to live the
Low Life
or
Higher Life

Finding information!

After many months of searching I have found a source for raw milk. Many are not quite sure why I would go down this course. From my point of view, I am trying every which way to find the most nutritious food to consume. I don't drink milk, have not been able to tolerate it since I can remember. I remember my mom saying that even when I was little I was not a milk drinker. Don't like it, makes me feel heavy, cause a stomach ache. Well that has all changed since I found raw milk. I had heard of the health benefits, my main goal was to make nutritious yogurt without the additives, like starch to thicken it. So after getting my first gallon of raw milk, of course I tasted it, and I now drink milk. Not lots, a 6 oz glass a day, but I do drink it.
So the info I found today, showed me I needed to talk to you about milk. Please if you have ever wondered why our health is not what it should be or questioned whether the government or food industry has our best interests at heart, read this article.

Happy Pills!

Do you take {Happy Pills}?
As the years have went by do you need to increase them?
How far will you go, how many milligrams will you max out at?
As fortunate as we are to have these mood altering drugs available, do you realize it is not a free ride. They have side effects, you become immune and need to increase dosage.

Have you read the statistics? They work, they elevate you mood, increase you coping abilities.
They work with about 65% success rate, for a while until you need to increase them again.
Or change to a heavy medicine.
Now for the real truth. Excersise works 100% of the time. Once you make it up to walking 1 hour per day everyday. You will have the same or better results. Add in 15 minutes of sunlight or 2000 milligrams of Vit D and you will see a huge difference in your attitude.

Don't tell me you don't have time to walk one hour per day. How many hours do you watch tv, if nothing else walk in front of the tv while watching your favorite program.
Of course if you do that you will miss the nature scene while walking outside.

So find away to listen to you body and fix what needs to be fixed, but if you need medicines find out why and if you can improve the symptons so you at least get to take the minimum amoutn not keep adding more and more. Just like welfare medicine is suppose to be there to help you recover not a replacement for good, clean living.

Comparisons

Are you keeping a journal on your food consumption?

Do you notice any correlations between what you eat and how you feel?

Take the time to compare, write it down and adjust your food so you feel the best you can.

If you are consuming some of those comsumable non food items with NO NUTRITION you will have less energy, feel groggy, grumpy and so on.
If you consume good, nutritous, well balanced food items your energy will increase, you will accomplish your goals.

Think about how many items you eat that have nothing to do with fueling your body.

Please make the comparisons and adjust accordingly, you can make a huge difference in how you feel and what you accomplish.

Metabolism

Your metabolism slows down about 5 percent each decade as we age.

How do you increase your metabolism?
Drink green tea, eat hot pepper, eat more often, eat protein, exercises. The studies only prove that these tactics increase your metabolism for about 30 minutes after you do them. After the 3o minutes your metabolism goes back to your normal. So guess if you want to use them and boost your metabolism you need to do them every 30 minutes.

Now one lasting way to boost your metabolism is to build muscle.
Every pound of muscle in our bodies burns 35 calories a day, while each pound of fat burns just 2 calories per day. So as we age we need to concentrate on weight training. We need to build our muscles instead of loosing muscle which we naturally do as we become more sedentary.
So get some hand weights or wrist weights, get on your supportive shoes, walk and pump those arms while doing this. Do some toe lifts and some wall squats. All of these will build your major muscle groups. Last one core. Planks, side planks, or even push ups. Can't do a full push up? Got a set of stairs. Stand at the bottom of you stairs, toes out a couple of inches. Armes where you can comfortably reach. Standing vertically touching steps and push up. When you can do 10 to 15 push ups easily move down a step. Do until you are on the floor. You will beable to do full push ups and have lots of arm, leg, and core muscles.

Protein

So now protein. As mature women we need about 46 grams of protein per day.

1 cup of milk has 8 grams of protein
A 3-ounce piece of meat has about 21 grams of protein
1 cup of dry beans has about 16 grams of protein (This would make 3 to 4 cups cooked)
An 8-ounce container of yogurt has about 11 grams of protein.

To lose weight you need to up the protein. Lower the carbs and fat. That is a fact. Protein helps your muscles rebuild, burns more calories while digesting.

Animal protein also makes your body more acidic, not a good thing. Lays in your intestines and rots.
Vegetable protein found in the good ole USA is genetically altered, (thank Monsanta for that), manufactured and not a good thing.
How can we as a nation screw up our food supply so badly.
Yep it is us, we ignore things unless they are directly effecting us. Now they are causing us problems we just don't understand how. Look at all of the disease we have that foreign societies don't.

Trying to find a good healthy protein is a little hard.

,
manufactured and not a good thing.

Birthdays!

We will get back to food, but today a break.

Birthdays! Who would have thought Who would have thought that we would turn in to our parents. Thats what I see as I look at our family and friends who are in similar age groups.
We are our parents. I think we would have been much better off turning into the people our parents feared we would be, but instead we took our cues from them and we turned in to the acceptable, older middle age generation.

This year I vow to be happier with the way things are happening, make lemonade instead of sauerkraut.

Do you realize how much the way you think changes the way you act. How much easier life is when you find the positives.

The older we get the less time we have for being the best we can be, so fix it now, change it now and BE HAPPY, that is my wish for all my friends and family.

Percentages

Okay so we talked about the percentage of fat so now carbs, how many carbs. Atkins says 20 grams, No more Belly says 120, the FDA guidelines say 40 percent, if you follow the pyrimid you will eat more than you expect. If you don't know serving sizes you will eat several hundred calories.

Confusing? That's the plan, confuse the public. Get them to eat, if they eat they will buy, if they overeat they will be unhealthy, then they will need medicines, hospital stays, special foods that cost more.

Try cutting all of your carb snacks out, unless they are from fruit or vegetables.
Eat one serving of carb or starch per meal.

You will be in line then.

About 25 to 30 percent of your calories should come from carbs. The confusion comes in when most fruits have carbs and most vegetables, but they also have lots of good fiber so the carbs don't turn into starch quite so fast.

If you must eat grains buy them whole, grind them yourselves and make the flour into a treat. You won't do this often, takes too much time and effort, so your results will be a treat.

Wednesday, July 14, 2010

net percentages

So how much of what do we need. We can find any diet to allow us to consume how ever much we want of anything. It is just so amazing at how good we are at deceiving ourselves.

US Dietary Council says we should consume 30% fat, Dean Ornish on his heart healthy diet says we should consume 10%, many low fat diets say we should consume 20% fat, low carb diets say we consume any amount of fat. Before the heart healthy diets started in the 80's we usually consumed 40% fat. Now that fat was good fat, not manufactured fats. It was butter, lard, tallow. It was before King Corn came into play. In those days there was many more deaths from heart disease. But did the low fat decades cure heart disease? NO! We developed procedures to fix heart disease, medicine to stop the progression, little pacmen to eat the plaque in our veins. The plaque is still there more than ever, the heart problems are diagnosed earlier, and then we fix them so we don't die from them. Low fat did not fix our heart disease. Low fat put us on a course of adding more carbs to our diet which in turn made diabetes more prevalent, which in turn made more of us have heart disease at a younger age.

Also the heart healthy oils, corn oil, canola oil, vegetable oil, are bad for you! We eat lots of these oils in lots of processed foods. Also the food fed to our animals which we consume has made beef fatter, pigs leaner, chickens huge, and turkey oh my what has happened to turkey.

So look at the fats your eating, choose wisely. Eat healthy fats but watch how much. Cut out processed foods and you will probably get your fat intake in line with what we actually need.

Balance your food with the needs of your body.

Consumeable componets

So we have explored food rules. How are you doing on figuring out the best for you?

We now need to explore the componets of our foods.

We consume, fat, carbs and proteins.

All of our food items contain one or more of the above.

So starting on the next blog we will explore one of these. We need all three of them to consume a healthy diet. But why and how much and what kinds and how are the food industries confusing us with their ad compaigns.

Remember don't look at front of the package and when you do read the lables, know what are you reading.

Case in point a product I know longer consume and I find on almost every table when eating at someones house.

Cool Whip

So good for you, little calories, small amount or no fat, easy always in the freezer, ready to pull out.
What seems too good to be true. IS! When are you going to get it.

1. It is made from oil, and not very healthy oils. Oils are FAT
2. It is full of sugar or sugar substitutes.
3. It has lots of emulsifiers, (fat replacements) which come from fat which are still 9 calories per gram.
4. The serving size on the label is a fraction of what people normally eat as a serving making the label not reliable at all for nutritional information. So though the calories are low or non existent in this product it is a lie. Because they don't have to count the amount below .5 calories per serving.

Monday, July 12, 2010

Last thought!

Break the rules. Yep once in awhile break the rules.
When you do make it worth it. Don't eat mediocre.
Choose the highest quality, best food you can find.
Choose something you love and eat it slow until you are satisfied. Stop when you feel satisfied. Of course this is not an eat until full item, if you did you would never get full, eat until satisfied. ENJOY!

For example, chips ahoy are a decent chocolate chip cookie, don't settle for decent settle for excellent, choose to eat a warm from the oven, mixed from scratch, homemade chocolate chip cookie, an excellent chocolate chip cookie.

Cook

We are near done with MP book on food, only a couple days left so the ideas are simpler.

Cook.

I know a novelty with all the quick fixes we have available to us. Please stop letting others cook for you.

They are not focused on your health or nutrion, they are out to make money. Period.

Remember heating up in the oven is not cooking. Take the time to make the pizza, coat the chicken, bake the roast, roll the piecrust, slice the apples. It really doesn't take much time if you plan for it and also demand the help of others in your household.

Grow your own.

Food that is. Plant somethings and eat somethings. If you don't have a garden plant in containers. Try one or two items this year and add a new one or two every summer.

Taste the difference in just picked produce. Even a few minutes can make a difference in the taste and nutrition of fruits and vegetables.

And if you know someone who wants to get rid of some concord grapes this year, let me know.
We are no longer consuming high fructose corn syrup products, so making our own jelly is our only option. So looking for grapes to make some jelly.

I also have a great recipe for Hot fudge, but have not came up with one for simple chocolate syrup. So let me know if you have one of those too.
