Love!

I am grateful today for God's unconditional love.

What about you?

Do you feel the love, are you giving the love freely?

Tuesday, November 1, 2011

Grateful!!!

First day of November, the witches and goblins have left the area and we must now focus on the HOLIDAYS.

Somewhere between jack-o-lanterns and decorated trees is a small little holiday that seems to get lost every year almost as lost as the real reason behind those decorated trees, the birth of our savior.

So as we progress to the New Year could you take this month and recongize what you have, who you are, where you are going and how very blessed we are.

Give thanks for something everyday. Give love to someone everyday, give of your self everyday.

I am thankful for good friends this first day of November.

PLEASE post what you are thankful for.

Christmas gifts

Christmas is just around the corner, so what are you making this year?

I know I will get no responses so I will just have to waste a few days looking on pinterest and finding all those tutorials that I love to try.

Only about 1 out of 10 actually get finished but oh well, the process is where I attain my joy.

Well I also like the joy of giving (not always so good at receiving),
you know it seems like we have lost that joy of giving somewhere along the way,
I have always loved recieving a gift that was chosen for me, the time taken to find just the right thing, especially if it was handmade, hate the pricier gifts, would much rather have something remade out of something in the closet or cupboard.

Really not sure where I lost the joy of making things for people, and think I might try to find it again.

Reading

Had an ahhh moment this week. My reading ability and comprehension is stunted at young adult levels.

The last few things I have read and not been able to put down, have been marketed for young adults.

Must be that I became a mother way too young.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

If you haven't read The Hungar Games triology, It's a good read, even if you are an old great grandma, a young adult or anything in between.

Do you really think that you would help?

If you think you do, you probably don't.

Doing what is right is difficult enough. It doesn't help when those who have never been in the situation judge you.

What exactly would you be willing to loose, to help a desperate person who feels entitled to not have to be responsible.

My choices their choices deal with it.

Long time

Wow can't believe it has been 10 days since I have been on the blog.
Was rereading some of my post. Think I depend on spell check and grammer check and it doesn't work well.
I think I need to go back to school. Never was a great speller, but I use to know grammer.

What do you need to work on today?

I am looking for a Bible Study class that fits into my schedule. I don't seem to be able to keep up with having one here. (meaning held when I am not watching kids)

So need to find something. Any suggestions.

Joy

If you lacking "joy" in your life, watch Joyce this week.
Just saying.

Friday, September 30, 2011

Watching Joyce this week.

Why are you quarreling? Is because of ...... No really there is only one thing that you quarreling about.

You want something and you are not getting it.
Period.
Connect the dots.
Are you really okay to settle for your feelings.

Emotions don't always tell the truth.
Emotions control you.
Someone else is not responsible for your happiness.

Sunday, September 25, 2011

I think I need to go and find copies of both of these books.

Prayers

Please pray for peace for Jenni and strength for her husband, John.

Very Productive Day

Yesterday I made 18 jars of jalapeno jam, 4 quarts of cream of tomato soup, started sauerkraut in a crock all while I had 3 toddlers running around.

I wonder if that makes up for skipping body pump?

I love fall because I can put up the fruits without suffering the heat, I also love fall foods and the color changes.
Trying to stay positive, I feel in my joints that this winter is going to be long and cold.

Just saying!

A second, a minute, an hour must happen before it is.

If you walk around the track you don't get to count a lap until you have went all the way around once. That is lap one. If you want to walk 4 laps for one mile, it takes going around the track 4 times, not three.

You can't count a week until it has already happened. A week consists of 7 full days.

Even if you work everyday, you are not full time if those days only consisit of 3 or 4 hours. Full time is 40 hours, or 5 eight hour days, or any combination of 40 hours. Okay I do know that some jobs consist of full time at 28 hours, or 32 hours ect. But just because you work everyday does not make it a full time job.

Some items belong to others, not yours, leave them alone.

Please teach my grandchildren these rules because I certainly didn't teach my children.

Andy Andrews

Andy Andrews has a book out I haven 't seen. I read about it on Lisa Bearnsons blog.
Here is her post about it. I wish I knew how to put a link on this blog. I think maybe I should really learn how to blog.

The Noticer
It’s about a mysterious old man named “Jones” who notices things that other people miss. He also has the knack for showing up at just the right time in people’s lives and gives them the one thing we all need–perspective.
I’ve been marking the book up like crazy and here are some of my favorite “Jones” oberservations:

» “Remember, what you focus on increases.”
» “It’s time to stop letting your history control your destiny.”
» “People are either in a crisis, coming out of one, or headed for one.”
» “Worry is just imagination used in an unproductive way.”
» “Wisdom is the ability to see the future consequences of our choices.”
» “Many of life’s treasures remain hidden because we never search for them.”
» “If you are still here, then you have not completed your life’s purpose.”
» “We often judge ourselves by our intentions but others by their actions.”
» “If you want folks to believe in you, then it really helps if they like you.”
» “Life is a little like dessert. Keep your fork; the best is yet to come!”
» “In desperate times, much more than anything else, folks need perspective.”

I think maybe all of us need an "Andy" seminar.

Brayered Cards

Many have asked how my brayer class with Michelle Zindorf was. It was terrific.
So quick and easy to do once you know the proper techniques. Well worth the time and cost. I am super busy this week but maybe I can upload the cards I made on Saturday. As a special treat, I did win a door prise also, one of Michelle's cards and its even autographed. It was a delightful day.

Joycisms

I love most of the Philisms I hear either from the Doc or quotes as his sayings, Now I am adding Joycisms to my repertoire. LOL

"Never say anything about another person that you would not want said about you, and remember that “we reap what we sow.” –Joyce

I read and hear so often about mean girls. When will we no longer allow any of our acquaintances to be mean to others. Either to their face or behind their backs.
Finding fault, berating, complaining or just plain not understanding isn't an excuse. It just plain doesn't change the outcome. If you can't find a way to help just stay out of it. Put you energies into some other positive thing, stop wasting your life making yourself miserable.
All the talk in the world will not change a thing without action.
If we can't as adults stop the mean girls or stop being mean girls how in the world can we protect our daughters and granddaughters.

Critical

If you have a critical spirit you can find the bad in anybody.

Can you find the good in anybody?

You don't have to feel nice to be nice. Control you feelings. Find your stability. Be dependable.

Reap God's blessings by becoming who he expects you to be.

It's your choice.

Thursday, September 8, 2011

Where is your mindset?

Are you praying for joy and peace, and only finding strife.

Could it be you?

Are you borrowing trouble before it arrives or do you greet life with with joy?

If you are emotionally out of control, are you trying to control others because you are miserable?

You have the power to control you, to contol your emotions. Do not allow the enemy to win.

You can be joyful, you can choose your feelings!

Monday, September 5, 2011

Feelings, nothing more than feelings.

How do you manage your feelings?

Are you allowing your feelings to manage you?

Live beyond your feelings and learn what God has in store for you.

Joyce's message was amazing today.

Where is summer?

Wow, September 1 already, I like fall, but love summer and summer is coming to an end, which gives us an opportunity to get back in the craft room for creativity.

And a great month to increase creativity is September, and National Stamping month.
Most of you should have received your items from CTMH by now, what a great special they were running. I received a lot of free items for hosting the gathering, come over and check them out.
If you didn't order you missed out. But all is not lost, you can still get part of what we recieved. With a $75. order you can get the Pair a Phrase stamp set free, and for $5.00 more the Septmeber SOTM.

Well the calendar is getting full, so wanted you to know a few things going on:
I am taking a class with Michelle Zindorf on September 10, can't wait, it is going to be so exciting.
I am thinking of taking Andre Deer's class on October 20,
I am making a concerted effort to learn to stamp, reading practicing, doing something everyday, to learn how to do this correctly and creativily.

Now for a big announcement. Guess what Ocober 1 is? World Card Making Day. So I will be hosting a crop at my house, on October 1, 9am to 11pm. I have room for 6 people.
Reserve your spot today. Admission is a salad. I will provide soup and dessert.

Wonders

I hear so often "put prayer back in our schools", put "God" back in government. But it really does start at home, how many of our children own a Bible, have one on the table in their homes, let alone give it the importance that we do our other worldly possesions.
My sister in law posted this on facebook the other day. And it really touched my heart. (IRS says even if you get divorced you keep the relatives)

"Wonder what would happen if we treated our Bible like we do our cell phone? We carry it everywhere we go. We flip through it throughout the day. We go home to get it if we forgot it. We received messages from the text. We couldn't live. Without it. We give it to the kids as gifts. We used it in case of emergency. One more thing,it would never be disconnected . Jesus has already paid the bill"

Orthorexia

Now I am unhealthy because I chose to eat healthy whole foods.

It makes me anti social.
It causes undo stress.

It makes my peers uncomfortable.

SORRY

I am still doing it. I feel better, I don't have to eat everytime you do.

Deal with it or stay away from me.
Your choice. It's MY Choice what I put in my body.

Doing it right!

Take a couple of these to start, try to accomplish 100% but rejoice when you get can do 90% all the time

•Limit fructose to less than 25 grams per day. Ideally, you'll also want to limit the amount of fructose from fruit to 15 grams per day, as you're likely consuming 'hidden' fructose if you eat even small amounts of processed foods or sweetened beverages
•Limit or eliminate all processed foods
•Eliminate all gluten, and highly allergenic foods from your diet
•Eat organic foods whenever possible, preferably locally-grown
•Eat at least one-third of your food uncooked (raw), or as much as you can manage
•Increase the amount of fresh vegetables in your diet
•Avoid artificial sweeteners of all kinds
•Swap all trans fats (vegetable oils, margarine etc) for healthful fats like raw butter or coconut oil
•To re-balance your omega-3 to omega-6 ratio, take a high-quality omega-3 supplement, such as krill oil, and reduce your consumption of processed omega-6 fats from vegetable oils (trans fats)
•Drink plenty of pure water
•Optimize your vitamin D levels, either through appropriate sun exposure, a safe tanning bed, or a vitamin D3 supplement

Walk one hour per day.

The Mayonnaise Jar and 2 Beers

The Mayonnaise Jar and 2 Beers
When things in your life seem almost too much to handle, when 24 hours in a day are not enough, remember the mayonnaise jar and the 2 Beers .

A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front of him. When the class began, he wordlessly picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls. He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was.

The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles rolled into the open areas between the golf balls. He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed it was.

The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up everything else. He asked once more if the jar was full. The students responded with an unanimous ‘yes.’

The professor then produced two Beers from under the table and poured the entire contents into the jar effectively filling the empty space between the sand. The students laughed.

‘Now,’ said the professor as the laughter subsided, ‘I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life. The golf balls are the important things—your family, your children, your health, your friends and your favorite passions—and if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full.

The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, your house and your car.

The sand is everything else—the small stuff. ‘If you put the sand into the jar first,’ he continued, ‘there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls. The same goes for life. If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff you will never have room for the things that are important to you.

‘Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness.. Spend time with your children. Spend time with your parents. Visit with grandparents. Take time to get medical checkups. Take your spouse out to dinner. Play another 18. There will always be time to clean the house and fix the disposal. Take care of the golf balls first—the things that really matter. Set your priorities. The rest is just sand.’

One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the Beer represented. The professor smiled and said, ‘I’m glad you asked.’ The Beer just shows you that no matter how full your life may seem, there’s always room for a couple of Beers with a friend.’

Are you worth it?

I kind of put responsibilities on hold since vacation. A little side tracked, Ash is working and the boys don't start preschool until September. You would not believe how busy you are when you add 2 four year olds, to 2 twelve year olds, one 9 year old, and one 2 year old. It is really chaotic around here.

So my post today is about taking care of you!

Do you make time to:
Fix nutritional food for yourself or do you grab junk?
Take a walk, ride a bike, run, hike, dance, make time to move everyday?
Meditate, stretch, talk with God, read, create, do something that relaxes you?

You are worth the time, you can make every excuse in the book, say yes when you really should say no, tell yourself you are better than others, but if you are not taking care of yourself, and taking the time for the above you are cheating yourself and those who love you.

Order the cartridge set- $99 (3)
Aug SOTM - $5 (1)

Baby Carrots:

The following is information from a farmer who grows and packages carrots for IGA, METRO, LOBLAWS, etc.

The small cocktail (baby) carrots you buy in small plastic bags are made using the larger crooked or deformed carrots which are put through a machine which cuts and shapes them into cocktail carrots - most people probably know this already.

What you may not know and should know is the following:
Once the carrots are cut and shaped into cocktail carrots they are dipped in a solution of water and chlorine in order to preserve them (this is the same chlorine used in your pool).

Since they do not have their skin or natural protective covering, they give them a higher dose of chlorine.

You will notice that once you keep these carrots in your refrigerator for a few days, a white covering will form on the carrots. This is the chlorine which resurfaces. At what cost do we put our health at risk to have esthetically pleasing vegetables?

Chlorine is a very well-known carcinogen, which causes Cancer. I thought this was worth passing on. Pass it on to as many people as possible in hopes of informing them where these carrots come from and how they are processed.

Why oh why do we allow them to poison good food, and revel in the ease by giving them our dollars.

Singing

I recieved this email from WOF today. I have been searching for wisdom, for creativity, for motivation. So good to know.

Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms. ___ 1st Peter 4:10 NIV

Sing the Song in Your Heart!!!

"Being creative is to find your own voice inside yourself, to identify your own ideas and aspirations. It means singing the song that’s in your heart, to your own melody. You’re the only one who can hear it, because it’s coming to you from God. If you look at this song with your intellect, it goes away because it doesn’t respond to your mind; it responds to your heart." Luci Swindoll

Wisdom

Struggling right now on the correct words to say, to help those who are really lost.

Praying to speak right or to beable to hold my tongue.

I was directed to the book of Proverbs.

Proverbs deals with Wisdom.

Isn't God amazing that he has already had written the words we need to hear to keep our mouths shut.

HELP!!!

What constitutes an emergency???

Is it only life or death, serious injury?

Or is "love" or "lust" gone wrong?

Just can't imagine calling my mom in the middle of the night to cry my "friend" of choice for this month has kicked me out.

Hello? what did you do? Knowing your past history, why would you depend on someone else?

The relationship is only five months old and you moved in with him.

Start making better choices.

Stop whining and fix the problems.

Seems to be in the air.

Sugar

You know when I quit smoking I changed my drug of choice to sugar instead of nicotine.

Sugar is a carb, carbs raise insulin levels, studies now show that insulin and insulin like growth hormone promotes tumor growth, it appears that 80% of all cancers
are driven by elevated levels of insulin and igh.

WOW!!!!!

Children learn what they live...

Somtimes they learn what to do, sometimes they learn what not to do. They always watch you and learn as they do.

So what are you doing to raise a child?

How do you influence their lives?

Food for thought.

Food for thought today.

"The suffering which springs from being “a meddler in other men’s matters” (a busy-body) is humiliating to the last degree. A free translation of 1 Thessalonians 4:11 might well read, “Study to shut up and mind your own business” and among all the texts we hang on our wall let this be one." Oswald Chambers (1874-1917)

Message

This is from some kind of ap that is called message from god.
If I knew how I would link but don't know how to do it, so I posted this thinking we all could use it right now.

"On this day, God wants you to know
... that you will get back to solving all the wrongs in a moment, - how about taking a moment to treasure what is right. All too often we focus so intently on solving the problems, that we forget to zoom out and celebrate what is good in our life already."

If you don't know it really is all up to God.

Why?

Why do we allow the negatives to effect our life?
Media-If the music you listen to or the TV shows/movies you watch have a bad impact on your life, in any way, turn them OFF. If they are not pleasing to God and are not spiritually feeding your soul, then why do you listen to or watch them? Because you always have? Because you haven't noticed the negative impact they're leaving on you or your family?

Everything we watch on tv, everything and one we come into contact with effects us, are you allowing the negatives to overtake the postives.

How do you effect others, are you giving them what they need? Is it really your job to show them how wrong they are?

God will take care of them you don't need too. Everytime you give a negative response it takes 30 positives to make up for it.

Just because you have mastered it, went through it, had it worse or better, doesn't mean its relative to them.
Let them talk, say a prayer for them, say a prayer that you will say and be a positive in their life today.

Proverbs 31:26 "She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness."

Time

Electronics!

What the heck did we do before cell phones?
When did it become acceptable to disconnect to the people you are with and show more respect for a piece of plastic with a few electronic parts?
How do you think it makes people feel when you don't answer when they call but when you are with them they answer or text everything that comes there way.

How hard is it to turn on to vibrate and check every hour or so.
We don't need to be in control 24/7. People can survive without us for a bit.

How about allowing you children to carry their electronics everywhere there is. Bright lights in theaters, dance recitals, ect. They can set for a few without being connected to their ds.

We are addicted, we are allowing our children to become addicted. We are encouraging it, using it as a babysitter, so we don't have to teach them to behave in social situations.

It's not a contest to see who is more popular, who can have the most texts.

And because it is happening doesn't make it okay.

My Food Plate vs Deb's Food Plate

What do you think about the new compaign?

I do think they are getting it more right, but the grain portion is still too large, seperating fruit and veggies was good, but we don't need three servings of fruit per day, and it would be better if we would consider the fruit portion for dessert, so we could stop thinking we need that little something of sugar after we eat.

Okay my take is:

1/2 of your plate veggies, preferably green veggies, low calorie veggies ect. It doesn't have to be the same, mix it up. A cup of salad and aspargus. Coleslaw and a serving of green beans. Remember that corn, beets, peas are starchy so eat them less often, or smaller portions. But still eat them if you like them.
Potatoes, carrots, sweet potatoes yes are starchy also, but use them in place of grains, they have plenty of nutrition in them.
3-5 oz of protein.
1/2 cup of rice, 1 piece of bread or 1 cup of cooked pasta.

Eat an apple or pear for mid afternoon snack and add a yogurt with berries for evening desert.

Remember fat is good for you, just eat the right amount. And always add fat to you grains and your veggies, you don't assimilate the nutrients with out it.

But that salad doesn't need 1/2 cup of dressing, a couple teaspoons of flavorful dressing with surfice, and if that dressing is made with franken oils it is not helping you but depriving you of getting the nutrients.

If you don't get the nutrients you need you will have cravings and you will overeat.

Get your body back on track, help it acheive it's best ever.

Who's in control?

Seen this on facebook today.

GOD DOESNT GIVE US WHAT WE CAN HANDLE, GOD HELPS US HANDLE WHAT WE ARE GIVEN. HAVE A GREAT DAY

Young People

How do you handle the entitled young adults you have to be around today.

Do yours have no attachment to anything, even thoughts?

Do they make plans, set goals when deciding on their future or just fly by the seat of their pants?

Complain about something one second, love it the next.
Do you rescue them when their plans go astray?

Think maybe I need to stop reading facebook.

Food Pyramid

Well the Food Pyramid is going away and nutritional information from the USDA will be showed on a plate. Suppose to be easier to understand and help with portion control.
Do you think maybe they will get it right this time? Yea right! LOL

Where did the love go?

What made you pick your partner?
What attributes made you choose to spend the rest of your life with this person?

How determined were you to stay in the game or did you count on being able to begin a new game whenever you had enough.

Do you think maybe if you could find one thing about your partner that use to make you happy and find one thing about yourself that your partner use to enjoy and celebrate those two things for a few hours a week maybe things could improve?

Find a way to make them your best friend even when they don't (maybe) deserve it this week.
Yes it takes some effort but not much more than being aggravated all the time.

How much?

How much do you need? How much room is necessary? How many things can you hold on to?

God wants us to have stuff, he wants us to know blessings.

He wants us to appreciate what we have. He wants us to take care of what we have.

He also wants us to share. Share our time, our money, our stuff, our selves.
He wants us to share with those who don't have "stuff", share with those who do have "stuff", with those who "deserve more stuff", with those who "don't deserve more stuff". Share. Give.

Find your JOY by sharing with those who are SUFFERING, giving someone in need a little MIRACLE they have been praying for.

It all belongs to him. The LORD blesses us so we can give of ourselves to Glorify him and his word.

What have you given this week? What are you doing next week.

Chipolte

Wow Good Food. Well at least good tasting and responsible eating.

Free ranged and locally raised, that is a blessing. But here again, how healthy is the products you are eating. I like food. I seldom find restaurant especially fast food restaurant food I enjoy, but Chipoltes was a delight.

So being me after reading their practices I had to look up their nutritional information.
Now remember most often the nutritional information errors in the favor of those making the money, not those eating the food.
I had a chicken bowl with rice, chicken, vegies, bl beans, sour cream, cheese and tomato salsa.

Product calories carbs fat protein
Chicken 190 1 6.5 32
Rice 130 23 3 2
Black beans 120 22 1 7
Fajat vegis 20 4 .5 1
Salsa 20 4 0 1
cheese 100 0 8.5 8
sourcream 120 2 10 2

Totals 700 56 29.5 53

I hope the chart stays but if it doesn't just follow across.

And this is without the wrap, add the wrap and you add 290 in calories, 44 grams carbs 9 grams fat and 7 grams protein.

Not exactly something I should be eating often.
How quickly our views change, because this is probably something healthier than most fast food, but cheeze, it wasn't a whole lot of food for the calories, and nutritionally very carb heavy if you are eating the burrito and adding the beans.

I really thought I had found myself a treat but it will have to be an very occasional treat.

Where do you eat healthy ??? and still enjoy it?

Joy!

Sorry I have been missing, took a few days to recoup.

How do you define JOY?

Are you joyful with your life or just making do?

We spent the a few hours this weekend in a hilly, area. The landscape had beautiful farms, being farmed with natural horse power. Large, gorgeous, well kept farms. Healthy beautiful clean animals. Lots of cottage industries. The simple life.
I was impressed with how well kept the area was. How much slower. How much simplier.

We also spent some time at an exotic animal ranch. Fun.
Swimming at a hotel. Relaxing (yea right). with 3 toddlers) lol

And riding Thomas. Nice but an awful long wait for one little guy.

So check out my photos on Facebook and see the joy of life through the eyes of 1 two year old and 2 four year olds.

Boundries

I know I have talked about this before.

So now,

Make a list of the rules you expect and can live with.

Give the list to the person.

Ask how you can help them achieve these goals.

Tell them what you are willing to give or even compromise on.

Both parties sign the document so there are no misunderstandings.

Stick to it.

I have not read the book. I am planning on reading it. These are my thoughts on how to not damage the relationship and more than it already has been damaged.

Traditional Diets

So what kind of foods do you eat?

Do you crave certain things? What are they?

What were your favorite foods you mother fixed?

What about your Grandmother, did she fix something to eat that you are missing today.
Were your childhood meals balanced?

What flavors do you really dislike? Is there a pattern to your likes and dislikes?

When you eat carbs do you feel satisfied? lethargic?

What about protein? Heavy or energized?

Fats? Nauseated? Full?

The way your body reacts when you eat the essentials will tell you what you need to add or subtract from your diet.

Pay attention.

Needs

We need each other.

Again I tell you, if two of you on earth agree (harmonize together, make a symphony together) about whatever (anything and everything) the may ask, it will come to pass and be done for them by My Father in heaven.

Matthew 18:19

We need to stop our bickering and disagreeing on petty things.
Practice looking for ways to agree with other believers and watch what God does through the unity of faith.

Still Trying

Still trying to stay positive.

This is about the septic system problem from last weekend.

How can it become such a disaster.

Last night the basement flooded.
The one sump pump stuttered and the other sump died.

6 inches of water in the laundry room.

A couple of inches through out the basement.

Positive is that the basement might get cleaned out

Mornings

We are traveling the Nourishing Traditions path. I also visit the Y most days.

But this morning I didn't do the Y but did catch up on preparing foods.

Yogurt is curing, nuts are soaking, sourdough starter is fed. Salad is made. Fish is thawing.
Seems like I put in a week of work already.

Now out to the garden. Hope the rain holds off until after dark.

Feelings!

I have so many feelings, feelings that control my reactions.

I have control over my feelings. If I allow them to speak to me all day, that is all I "feel".

It is time to control my feelings, not allow my feelings to control me.

Get control of me. I can control my life by my reactions. My reactions are a result of my feelings.

I can find joy, I can make a difference. How about you???

God's word has power.

Difficult?

Is life getting you down? Can't figure out where to go?
Looking for answers in all the wrong places???

All of life's answer are available in one little book.
Any problem you have this book can tell you how to deal with it.
It has references, it gives advice, it gives directions.

Do you know the title?

I am sure you already have a copy.

How long has it been since you read the Bible?

It does answer all of our questions. With so many versions available it is even easy to understand.

Pull it out, ask God for answers, flip thru the pages and he will answer.
Then the hard part, you actually have to follow the direction.

Monday, May 9, 2011

How do you stay positive?

Just exactly how do you keep positive when little things go awar.

I asked Bill to fix the spraying drain going form the sump pumpt to the sewer outlet last week. He was sweet enough to begin the project on Saturday morning. Which of course didn't go as planned.

THe drain is fixed, a couple of dollar project, along with the septic system pumped out, a couple of hundred dollar project.
I still don't have any drains, because the outlet became plugged, had to be opened up which of course destroyed that plug, and because life can suck, no plugs of that size are available.
Hummm.
Why?
and
How do you stay positive when you don't have a pooper, or a sink and have no idea how much a plumper will charge to come fix it, because the home improvement stores don't stock items for older homes.

Why does a simple project always grow to an impossible project.

Meat???

Is your meat made of scraps stuck together with “meat glue”? This exposé reveals how you may be being deceived about the meat you buy -- and why the dangerous practice makes food poisoning hundreds of times more likely.

I know we have eaten ground and formed meat forever, think sausage, lunch meats, chicken nuggets, arbys, but now junk meats are being used to produce an even more vile product. These meats use to be formed with broth and fat, now it is being formed using "meat glue".
Yes we have always used the scraps, but we also cooked it while forming it, now they are selling us raw meat parts that look like steak or roasts. It is just another frankenfood with only a touch of real left. Please support your local farmers and find meat produced and processed locally. Ask around local raised is available.

Visit the Mercola Video Library to find out more information.

From Jon Stewert:

"The face of the Arab world in America for too long has been Bin Laden. And now it is not. Now the face is only the young people in Egypt and Tunisia and all the middle eastern countries where freedom is rising up."

And this, is why we celebrate. Not celebrating Bin Laden's death, but the hope that the young people will be able to secure for themselves freedom."

American Troops secure our Freedom's everyday.

Don't forget to thank an American service man or woman today and everyday.

You have to have a "taste" for good food.

People have taste buds that are warped by MSG and NutraSweet and sugar in everything, they don't appreciate the subtleties of truly good food.

Even a small amount of these additives can change the way your taste buds act.

What are you tasting??? Is it worth it to you to taste real food and give up the frankenfoods?

Understanding

The meek shall inherit the earth and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.

It is okay to disagree, everyone has their own thoughts and processes.

Getting along with others is a virtue especially when you don't understand where they are coming from.

So take a stand to be understanding when it doesn't make sense to you. This is one way to give of yourself and God rewards those who give.

Good ingredients

If it is worth my time it is worth the best ingredients I can get. Right?

Find out the hard way. I have been having great success with my sourdough bread.
The kids love it, it is the only bread Bill eats. It is easy to make, looks good, has a great crumb.
I have made it several times, using up all of the product I had received when I took my class.

This week I made it with product I had here, you pillsbury, gold medal, I had mixed the different brands together, made three canisters so I had unbleached flour, whole wheat and bread(high gluten)flour.
I made it the day before yesterday, we like the texture better if I let it in the frig overnight so I baked it last night.
It feels like bricks. It looks awful.
Thank goodness I have some in the freezer. I also had made a trip to New Hampshire on MOnday to replenish my supple of "GOOD PRODUCTS"

whole some foods

Was taught another lesson yesterday. Went to a crop and ate mostly only what I had brought.
Did partake in some boughten lunch meat, lettuce, fruit, meat sticks, and trail mix.

I ingested some kind of wheat product. Fought off the urge to eat the peanut butter cookies. Wanted one so bad. Knew what the consquences would be so didn't eat one.

Chocolate brownies ummm, nope not me I was good, or at least thought I was being good.

But the night proved the point something had wheat, or wheat starch, or gluten or whatever it is that makes me ill. Causes severe stomache cramps and other problems that would be TMI.

I choose not to eat many products just because, but the wheat is a real health issue with me.

Please understand that I will be eating no more products form others, I will be checking all and any food labels for ingredients before consuming.
Not trying to be difficult. Don't want you to cook for me. I will take care of me. Just don't take offense when I tell you NO THANK YOU!

The WPF meeting will be held on Monday evening, April 11. It is held at the Grace Church, on Wells St in Country Club. The meeting starts promptly at 7 P.M. The doors open at around 6:30 and you can purchase products from local vendors.

This months meeting is discussing GMO's. If you are not aware of this practice and the effects it is having on our food system, nutrition and your health this meeting will be a good lesson.

Please if you can carve an hour or two out of your month, this meeting will be an eye opener for you.

Castoreum

Do you eat anything vanilla flavored. If so check the ingredients. If castoreum is listed you are eating anal glands from beavers.

Isn't it wonderful what the FDA approves.

I thought the crushed beetles for red dye was bad.

I will certainly make sure I am using vanilla and not vanilla flavoring.

Rough Childhood?

You know, sometimes, the funniest stuff will stick with you and come back to haunt you at the most inopportune moments.

I can understand parental hangups lingering long past what should have been their expiration date.

It is our responsibility to get over them.

Your parents would have done better if they new better.

Disipline in those days was totally different than today.

Sometimes it seems like we should go back to those days.

The only improvement is that today we do consider the differences in personalities when giving out disispline.

Are you really raising better adults then what we are?

Do you realize you are not raising kids, you are raising adults. That more than likely you will not out live them.

Conserving

How are you conserving your energy?

Today I am talking about gas.

If you don't already realize. Obama isn't behind the gas prices.

We have been being primed for higher fuel prices for years.

For years the price goes up we protest, the price goes down to just a bit above what we consider normal and stays there. Repeat

Today if you saw gas at $3.30 a gallon you would think you had a bargain.

Tomorrow (in the future) you will feel that $4.00 a gallon is a bargain.

Get it? They want it to be a bargain at $5.00 a gallon. It will get there.

Prepare.

Nourishing Eating

On my quest for eating healthy. I have been trying to follow the WAP guidelines and also looking at the "fad" information on Paleo living and eating. I know that I feel much better when I eat natural foods with less interference from man when they are grown. But I did find this information on line this week and think it talks to all of us. Now this only works if we are honest with ourselves, which most of us don't do any more. I have read and heard all the diet recommendations, I have seen people (myself included) waste money on the latest or traditional ways to lose weight. I have heard people say they have success and I don't see it. I just see most of us still unfit, over weight or obese, unhappy, negative, gossipy, looking for the worst. People unwilling to take a chance, do something different. CHANGE. I see people relying on medications so they can control their feelings.
Where does responsibility start and stop. Take control. Figure out you. Ask God for help everyday. Get off as many drugs as possible. Work to reduce those that are absolutely necessary. Spend time with yourself. Learn to love YOU. Words are powerful, complement YOU many times per day.
And remember alos, no one thing works for all.

"I think a really important thing to remember is this: no one knows what is best for your body except you. Yes, information and guidance are useful in making good decisions, but the bottom line is yours to decide on. No one else's.

The cookbook Nourishing Traditions was written by two women, Sally Fallon and Mary Enig. They are very intelligent, educated and thoughtful researchers who have laid out some guidelines for us. The WAPF board is a few more people, also laying out guidelines. None of them are masters, gurus, or infallible experts. They are people who have done their research and offered their findings to us to use as we see fit.

People are worried about how different foods are going to effect them... are nightshades poisonous? Is coffee bad for me? Will eating grains make me sick? No one knows the answer to those questions except you (and your medical professional, perhaps). All foods effect our body systems in various ways and only you can tease apart the variables to figure out what is right for you. Remember, people can die from drinking too much water and other people live long, healthy lives eating frozen dinners and twinkies - nothing is 100% good and nothing is 100% bad.

I think Sam's comment that there are a number of foods that most people handle just fine while others have trouble with them is good advice. Grains are a great example of this phenomenon. Humans have eaten grain foods all over the world for thousands of years but there is rock solid evidence that some people, modern and historical, have much improved health from avoiding them. The same is true of nightshade vegetables. And many, many people in this world make the same argument about meat and dairy. :)

What works for you? If you have a gut feeling that you might not tolerate some food thing, give it a try to eliminate it for a couple weeks. How do you feel? If you feel better and the avoidance isn't a hardship, then keep refraining. Otherwise, weigh your options and make a decision.

As for the olive oil - people around the Mediterranean have cooked with olive oil for thousands of years and lived to tell the tale. Extra virgin olive oil, the first pressing, is a special and delicious thing that is best raw because it tastes best raw. Other types of olive oil are a traditional cooking oil in many cultures. I do most of my cooking in animal fat or refined coconut oil, but sometimes I use olive oil for the taste. I believe the researchers who say that monounsaturated oils are fragile and should be treated carefully and am interested in more information in this topic from sources other than WAPF.

Good luck on your search for the answers for your own self. Let us know what you decide or what you find on these topics. This is why we are here, to share with each other and encourage each other. But we each have to make our own decisions"

Frugal

It is so amazing that people will spend their hard earned monies for frankenfood, but balk at paying the price for quality nutrient rich ingredients. In the same breath you feed your children artificial ingredient "low sugar and fat" foods, but refuse them to drink an all natural juice. Yes it does have sugar in it. But it is the natural fructose that is in the fruit. Along with nutrients and vitamins. The gator ade has a lower sugar content but that sugar is not associated with anything but water and manufactured vitamins that your body cannot utilize. UMMM they forgot to tell you that didn't they? Oh yes it does have some added salts too. The fruit juice doesn't need the added salts, its minerals come through the soil it was grown on. Some people will never see it.

Why is it that everytime a new report comes out it changes what we thought we knew?

Please take your time do the research and find the answers.

WOF

I join some of you at the Columbus OH WOF convention at the first of May.

We have a fun time. Last year I actually joined the connections while we were at the convention.
It is nice to get motivational emails from WOF everymonth.

Their website if very nice if you have never visited it.

But best of all I ordered several items from their online store this week, (Tuesday) and the order arrived on Friday.

Everything I ordered was on clearance. The quality is nice, I ordered two shirts and a sweatshirt jacket, they were available in extra large and one was a 2 X. They are all a little roomy but nice.

So if you are looking for things check out WOF online store. And check out the bargains.

Grains

Why is it that people today can not get their minds around most people have some trouble with grains.
Even those who do not have auto immune disease, grains cause the villa in the intestines to die, and then your body must remanufacture it. You are using energy and resources to make new villa so your nutrients are able to be absorbed in your body. When your body is not getting nutrients it feels it needs, you are hungry and crave food trying to find them.

You don't need grains, you were not developed to eat grains, YOU CAN LIVE WITHOUT THEM.
You might not want to but you can. And you don't have to, but I think maybe I do.
I think maybe I need to get my mind around, that I am not depriving myself, but feeding my body, good quality food.
You might get the high from the simple sugar, the release of those brain chemicals to make you happy, but I am going to CHOOSE to be grain free.

Still Searching

Well I thought I was racing towards a solution to my not being able to consume wheat type products.

Do you have any idea how hard it is to "never eat wheat". Can it be done? Yes many people do it all the time. But I have a real problem, having to think constantly about what I am eating. Missing good breads, luscious desserts ( how many do you fix without wheat or wheat products?).

After consuming a small amount of what I thought had not caused symptoms, was Delicious (not anything like those nasty rice flour items which are not worth putting in my mouth or stomach) I didn't have stabbing pains in my gut. Well it must of been the amount I ate, or the fat I ate with the meal before, and that I had went a full month without consuming wheat because Friday evening and Saturday I again had ALL the symptoms.
The DR wanted me to schedule an endoscopy for a biopsy the last time I was there guess I need to have it done. The blood tests already say I have the problem, but for a full diagnoses I need the endoscopy.
So disappointed, Its just much easier to resist eating anything with flour.

Sunshine

I love to cook, I spend many of my hours preparing food. I would much rather spend a half hour cutting up vegetables than waiting in line for a table at a resturant.
After spending that time in line, you are still at the mercy of the resturant staff, you wait for you sever, wait for your beverage, wait to have your order taken and then wait for them to prepare it.
If after all this waiting they are prompt with getting your bill to you, you get to observer them acting as if you are taking up space so they can have the table to serve those still standing in line.

I am much more comfortable sitting at home, preparing my own food, and knowing what I am eating.

But the sun is shining. So I want to maximise my time in the kitchen. I want time to play outside.

Watch for upcoming tips and recipes for "Traditionally Healthy". A healthy way to incorporate bulk cooking into your everyday life style.

Cropping

I am really missing getting together and spending a day cropping and chatting.
There are several crops going on in the area in the next couple months.

There is a fund raiser on April 9,
The store in Findlay is having a crop at a hotel in May for National Scrapbook Day. 3 days

If you know of any others email me or call me and maybe we can make plans.

Sour dough Baking

I recently took a class in sourdough baking and soaking grains. It was a very informative class.

I think the greatest thing I learned from the class is that you can preserve your sour dough starter for a long length of time with out feeding it.

I have killed many starters previously in my life time. I was too lazy or too poor to keep up the everyday feedings. I didn't understand the science of preserving the starter.
I now have an understanding that I previously missed.

I also was able to observe someone elses technique for mixing bread. After using the bread machine or mixer for several years, this renewed my delight with actually playing with dough.

This class was well worth the time and money spent to attend.

Emergency Plans

Do you have one?
Do you have one for a small emergency that wouldn't work for major disaster?

PLAN

This is a list of things that would disapper first:

Top 100 Items to Disappear First During a National Emergency

1. Generators (Good ones cost dearly. Gas storage, risky. Noisy...target of thieves; maintenance etc.)
2. Water Filters/Purifiers

Blogging is out and facebook is in.

Still have trouble changing and more and more I am hearing that blogging is obsolete.

Not many are even checking this so not sure how long I will keep it up. Might just take a break for a while.

Not will to post on facebook too often. As much as I feel that blogging can not be secured, Facebook is way out there on security. Kids on all the time, facebook changing the rules so you have to redo your settings.

No that is not where I want to post.

Answers?

Is a prayer being answered?

A request I didn't know was being prayed.

Sometimes the answers are not what we expect, but are what is for the best.

Find the joy in the answer and ask in prayer for help for the problems.

God knows the solutions.

Who do you count on!

Can you count on your family? Do they do what they say they will? Follow thru?
What about your friends?

If they say they will can you count on them?

You know your having a get together at your home, everyone seems to be late, can you still count on them showing up?

One person you can always count on is God. Have faith that he will show up all the time.
Ask him for his help with everyday things, he will be there for you.

RAKS

Do you ever do RAK's? What are raks you say? Random Acts of Kindness.
You know doing something for no reason at all. Might be giving of your time, your money or making something.
I love to pick up little things at the discount store or Odd Lots just to have on hand.
They may cost a penny, or a dollar, or maybe 5 or 10 but it is fun to just have a few little things on hand to hand out to the grandkids. It's fun to do this for those you know. What about doing this for a person you meet in the street. You know you are in the drivethru and pay for the guy behind you. Buy an extra sack of groceries and drop them off at the neighbors.

Well the real reason I thought on this was a discussion about adding to welcome bags.
So what would you contribute to a welcome bag, I am making a list.

Tweezers,
Nail file
clippers
sample body cares
winkle free clothes spray
eye mask
devotional book
notepad
pen
earrings
lipgloss
fuzzy socks
gift card to starbucks or mickysd's
rice pack (for hot or cold) these are easy and cheap to make
emergency sewing kit
small photo book

well this is a start can you add to it

Computers

Over the next couple of posts I am going to try to explain computers. Computers the way I know them.

I know I have tried to touch base with people that when you use "propriety programs" such as that come with your cameras or computers you are limiting yourself.
You also are risking the chance that once you no longer have those programs, or you upgrade your computer to a new operating system, or the program upgrades and you choose not to spend the money or time to keep up, that you will loose those files. That is especially heartbreaking when we are talking about digital photos.

It use to be we made "hard copies" of photos, we had negatives to remake the copies. Now we have FILES.

Twice in the last few months I have had people speak Priority Programs to me, with no understanding that companies go out of business at a drop of a hat. That if you do not save your photos or files as files that are compatible with all formats you stand the change of loosing them for ever.
So I will try to address these issues in the next few days. If you don't understand me or need more personal info please feel free to ask.

Lent

Are you fasting for lent?
Do you choose to fast for religious reasons? for health?

Have you considered what foods
would be available in late winter, if modern food practices didn't exist.

Not much.

The larder would be empty, the chickens wouldn't be laying, you couldn't slaughter the cow because they would be ready to give birth and start giving milk again.
So you made do, you ate pickeled foods, a few seeds or bark you could find, some fish if you could get to the lake, and some early sprouts that were showing in the ground. You learn to do without and make do and feel blessed with what you have.
Fasting in late winter early spring make sense.

What's your currency?

Often when finding a discipline to hand out to children I hear "Find their currency".

Today with the economy being what it is I am asking you "what is your currency?"

When you get back that income tax return what do you do with it? (after allowing the government to use your money interest free for the last year)

I know years past we used it to buy a half of beef, stock the pantry. Buy the kids name brand shoes. Take all of them out for dinner at Duffs. Pay off the doctors bills. Place some in the savings. We used it for extras, but they were necessary extras.
If you listen to the younger generation today they seem to use it for extras. Eating out at fancy restaurants, piercings, tattoos, ipads, the latest cell phone.

So really how bad is the economy?
How do you use your everyday currency, extra currency you didn't expect?

Amazing

Do you find it amazing, that we have more food, better variety of food all year long, affordable for alot of Americans, and we consume less vitamins, less nutrition, are less healthy, spend more on health care, are more obese, than we were 40 years ago.

Death from heart disease is reduced, but heart disease has sky rocketed.

Remissions from cancers is good, but amount and types of cancers have increased. (this is not only about detection.)

Allergies, have completely went out of site.

Autism
Many auto immune diseases.

Could it be where we are getting our food from?
What type of food we are consuming?
How that food is grown?

Simply amazing you are willing to settle for this.

Unsatisfied

Proving your point really does no good. So much of what we argue about really does not matter.

Love is truly being happy for others, seeing where they are coming from.

Being willing to give even if the person doesn't deserve it.

You will only be happy when you actually are compassionatea

Compassion

What do you do when you feel compassion? Do you act on it? Have you allowed your heart to be hardened?
Start feeling compassion for those you see in need.

Then pray for the answers on how you can help.

Compassion the word of the week.

Simplify

What is really important? Can you keep your treasured possesions with you always?
Will you have them in assissed living, how about the nursing home? That inlaw apartment your kids made for you. Is it worth paying storage for something you might never look at again.

How much do you really need? Are you a horder?

If you want control SIMPLIFY!

Keep the memories.

Wrongs

As soon as you realize you are doing anything wrong, STOP IT.

Don't make excuses for continuing. Stop letting "whatever" it is infect you.

If you can't make a difference find another way.

It is what it is but you don't have to be a part of it. You choose to be there. You can also choose to be better, to do better.

Strive to follow the narrow path.

Is your warning light still blinking.....

or is it on full time?

Only you can take care of whatever the problems are creating the warning light.

Wether it is weight, strength, mobility or spirtual, you can control YOU and how you react to your surroundings whatever they maybe.

You decide.

Yoga

Yoga practice has made a huge improvement in my mobility.

You do what YOU can do and only increase as you feel you can. Yoga should never hurt only gently stretch.

Kat found a great little book and dvd at Borders and shared it with me.

I found the same title marked down at ALDI's. If you are read to start your Yoga practice, check it out.
The title is: The Gift of Yoga. $3.99 in the markdown bin at Aldi's.

Who do you believe?

More fat, less fat...good carbs, no carbs, sun-sunscreen, vit d, vit e, lots of fruit, fruits too sugary.

Who do you believe?

How are you getting healthy?

How do you know the studies are good?

Thinkings!

Is it hard for you to get your mind around new or different information?

Like fat is not bad, franken fats are bad, but saturated fats are not bad, trans fats are bad.

All fat is bad, that is what we have grown up with. Animal fats are super bad, manufactured fats are better. Wrong!

Fats are not bad, we need fats in our body. Our brains need fats. Eating fat will not make you fat if you eat the right kinds of fats.

Now that is my new believe. It is what the research shows. It is hard to remember it when I am shopping or planning or cooking foods. Let alone when eating foods.
I believe different than most people. I believe Paleo or primal or WPF philosophies. I know how I feel when I eat those way and not the new traditional way.
But living it is something else. We have been so brain washed since 1970 with heart health, low fat, high carb diets. We are fatter, and this stinkin thinkin has made us very unhealthy and most likely on lots of pharmaceuticals.
We can change our thinking we just need to turn our brains off of listening to commercialism, get back to the basics and eat as natural as possible.
Research yourself, make cards of your believes, read them several times a day. STOP watching so much TV, and move a little more instead.

Bones

Where have all the bones gone?
Do you make stock? or broth?

We have always saved our ham bones, bones from beef roasts and poultry carcasses.
If I didn't have time or need soup immediately we froze them to use later.

While cleaning out the freezer this week I noticed I only have one ham bone.
I make soup at least once a week and I have nothing in the freezer to depend on except one ham bone. No roasts with bones in them, no whole chickens, one ham bone.

Looking at the grocery this week, the amount of meats available with bones is very limited.
What the heck. What are they doing with the bones. Bones use to be easy to find, cheap.
Lots of calcium good stock.

Where have all the bones gone, do you know?

Had club at my house last night, very nice evening.

Me who complains constantly about the way we cook and the food we eat, had an extremely carb heavy menu.

Just so you know this will be the last time I do that at my house.

To gain you health back you need to eat a lot of vegetables, a small amount of meat, a little sugar or starch.
So the perfect meal is:

2 cups of fresh mixed veggies,
3 oz of chicken
1/2 cup rice
all heated in a tablespoon of healthy oil.

For desert add 3/4 cup of frsh berries and 1/2 cup of yogurt and you have the perfect ratio of nutrients.

We had starch, starch, sugar and more starch last night.
A few vegies thrown in for good measure.
So I guess this was my 10 percent meal for the week and I will go back on my good stuff for the other 90 percent.
Sorry girls I sure didn't practice what I preach.

Back to the Basics

Not sure people understand. Some of the conviences we have learned to depend on are the very things causing our unhealthy bodies.

I am trying my best to get back to the basics. That doesn't mean giving up good food, but really how hard is it to make it from scratch?

Most things are a few ingredients and a bit of time. Not rocket science. Once you stop letting the prepared foods screw with your taste buds, you start appreciating the flavors of real food.

I am slowly working my way out of my pantry. Only purchasing whole foods, and eventually I will make it.

Oh buy the way I am on the 90-10 philosophy. If I can do this for 90 percent of the time, the 10 percent of bad food stuff, my body can handle. Now on another note, most of the time the 10 percent stuff stuff tastes awful, so progress is being made.

If I can figure out how to copy and paste in blogger I will start posting recipes. There has to be a way, I just can't figure it out.

Many things

WPF meeting tonight, 7:00 at Grace Church on Wells Avenue. The lecture will be on soaking grains. Think sourdough. Hoping this helps the sensitivity and I can eventually add wheat back in to my diet.

Why can't I copy and past into these blogger templates? Does anyone know?

Club Wednesday at my house. Look for any email that explains parking. With the thaw, it will be muddy and I don't want anyone getting stuck.

How well are you moving now adays. Have you started making yourself move more?
Where ever you are in fitness training, just be consistent and then add a little every week.
If you don't move YOU will stop eventually, just like the rusty wheel. You have to use the joints to keep them Mobile.
At our ages we have to think different. I know we all thought at retirement age we could slow down and rest a bit. Well that is meant for those have to things that we have done for years. As we get stop caring so much about those items we have more time to concentrate on our bodies and make them as good as possible.
MOVE IT!, STRETCH IT, BUILD STRENGTH, BUILD ENDURANCE, BUILD FLEXIBILITY!

What is Frakenfood?

We all know that many of the manufactured food substances have no nutrition. They are made to make us think we need them, to make money for big business, to make us addictive to snack foods.
Even worse are those frankenfoods that convince us they are healthy.
Lets take tomato's. I love tomatoes. Fresh from the garden, sweet, acidy, plump, juicy, warm.
Great on sandwiches, wonderful sliced with a touch mayo or Italian dressing.

What about those canned tomato's that we use to cook with now a days.
First they are grown in large fields. They never ripen to the point you would eat them off the vine. There have been engineered to stay firm,(think rock) with less sugar, so they don't ferment after picking. So they can ride in large trucks to the factory to be canned in BPA lined cans.
After being processed, you know peeled, cut and placed in cans, they have sugar added, why because they no longer have enough natural sugar, so they have no flavor without the sugar, they also have citric acid added so they have the acidy taste. The BPA in the cans is so they don't rust.
It is a huge poison if it leeches into the food, it will with tomato's.
Most people eat lots of tomato and tomato products per year. They have many health benefits. Look for healthy choices, don't choose the cheapest (tho price isn't always the determining factor for nutrition). Better yet can your own so you know what is in those nice clean jars. Superior grow your own and then can them.
Taste the difference, You will not believe the difference in taste of heirloom tomato's if you grow them in your fertile ground without pesticides, herbicides.

Not too much

How much are you really eating.
When you eat that cereal in the morning do you need a bagel 15 minutes later.
No you don't. You need to eat a balance of carbs, protein and fats.
The food needs to have nutrition to it. If you eat a high sugar or carb food without adding the fat and protein to it your body says okay stop teasing me, I got a taste but no way is it going to sustain me for more than a few, give me food, real food, food that fuels me. It kind of like giving a car starter fluid when it is really out of gas. You need good sustainable fuel.
Add a boiled egg, with an apple to your breakfast cereal. Or have yogurt, berries and a bit of granola. Stir an egg into your serving of oatmeal and make it oatmeal custard. How about a Canadian bacon sandwich with lettuce, a slice of tomato a teaspoon of mayo on a whole wheat emglish muffin.(watch for bad oils and trans fat). Don't let the front of the label sway you, read the label on the back with the real information on it.
Remember fats are not bad, we need some at everymeal just choose the correct fats.
Eat a sustainable breakfast and you won't need to eat again for 4 to 5 hours.
Or if you are on a 2 to 3 hour schedule, choose a bit of protein with each mini meal.

Eat Food

Okay so how do you eat food?

Get back to the basics. Do not buy pre-packaged. Eat as close to natural as you can.

If you grandma doesn't recognize it as food don't eat it.

Okay clarification, if someones grandmother doesn't recognize it as food don't eat it.

I am not sure my grandma would have recognized yogurt.

If you eat meat, look into what it is being feed. It is only as good for you as it's diet was for it.
If you eat fruits and vegetables check on how they are grown. If bugs won't eat them why are you?
Fats are not evil, use in proportion to your other nutrients, even weight watchers tells you to eat 3 teaspoons of oil. Please don't eat franken oils. Rape seed=canola oil, corn oil, not good for you.
Stick with olive oil, coconut oil, saturated fats aren't the bad guys they have made out to be. Problems have arisen because our ratios are off, our ratios between 3 and 6's are way off.
Be sensible, everything in moderation except FRANKEN FOODS.

Woman of Faith

For those of you going, just wondering what the heck they were thinking changing the venue this year.

There is nothing within walking distance as far as hotels or restaurants. Parking is a nightmare, and I am sure they will need lots more parking because so many people walked from their hotels. It's going to be hard to get back to the hotel and then back to event during the break, but restaurant wise you will have the same problem. And Friday night is a awful driving in Columbus.

The good thing is we will be heading into downtown during the break when everyone else is headed out, but having the valet parking and then getting it back out again, paying for parking at the lot twice on Friday it all is just so ridiculous. It was all so easy before.

Oh well can you tell I don't like change. But seriously WHAT WERE THEY THINKING?
